Change triple to single w/ error

Post by bmclaurin » Fri Oct 15, 2010 12:32 pm

This has probably been covered before, but I cannot seem to find it. I know I can override the stats in the new version. But what if I want the play by play, box score, scoresheet, etc. to reflect the revised scoring? In my haste to get a play scored quickly in a game last night, I incorrectly scored a ball that got past the right fielder as a triple, when in retrospect in my judgment it should have been scored as a single with the runner going all the way to 3rd on an error by the right fielder. When I go into the pitch by pitch to edit the scoring, it will not let me change the triple to a single. Any way around this, short of undo-ing all the way back? Unfortunately, this occurred in the 1st inning.

I am not sure if it works for manual override stats but typically if you make a change in play by play you should go into the game, touch play, then touch exit. This forces a recalculation of stats that may update your box score, etc.

You can not change the base a runner got to on a play (i.e. instead of getting to 3rd, he got to 1st) and you can not insert "events" into a play (i.e. got to 1st, then an error event got him to 3rd).

You can change a hit to an error or vice versa, but the base that was reached must be the same.

We would suggest manually overriding the stats, and you can put in a comment on the play (you can always add comments to any play after the fact) stating what actually occurred.

Thanks for the replies. I thought that would be the case, but I wanted to be sure I wasn't missing any workarounds. With respect to adding comments, are you planning to add those to the score sheets in the near future? Right now, I think they only show up in the play-by-play. It would be nice to see the scorer's comments on the score sheets as well.

Yes, we have had adding comments to the scoresheet on our enhancement list for some time now. There are still items of higher priority, but it is getting closer to the top.

Please add me as one who really needs the comments on the scoresheets then to help with your priorities. This one would be very big for me.
