Youtube would be very easy to add... they give you some HTML you can paste right into your home page.

I have not used flicker, but have used utube and mobile me.

Utube works easier than mobile me for simply inserting a video or two onto your home page... You can get a free account and then for any video you upload, it has an HTML code generator that you can copy and paste in the HTML home page editor...

If you have mobile me account and like the user interface and teh ability to sync with your mac.. you can paste your gallery address into the Team Site Photo page field called "external photo album". and have it on your website that way, can be video or photo or gallery url. one problem with mobile me it does not nest as many albums as say picasa, but is nice if you use mac and iphoto or ivideo.

OK, I think I am beginning to understand. On the home page I have to have HTML code and I just paste it on there directly? With the photos page, I can put a link to another page where all the videos would be stored. Debating on MobileMe, yes I have a MacBook and am using iPhoto and iMovie. Are there any limits on #/size for the videos? Both it and FlikR require an annual fee (for unlimited use), but not much. YouTube is free for unlimited? Thanks for the help, just trying to decide the best option before plunking down cash. I tried linking a video I have stored on Flikr but it doesn't work.

Also, on the photos page, can I have multiple links to albums, photos, and video libraries? Essentially I would like to have a page through the team website where my players/parents can go to see not only pics from games, but can review video we are taking of their pitching and hitting. I would also like to link to articles. Bit of a learning curve as I am knew to web design...thanks for the help as always.

OK, I tried YouTube. I set the link in the photo page but this becomes the whole page. Should I only do that for albums online? I also tried to paste on the home page, but I get the error unable to copy/paste in Mozilla/Firefox (I am using Firefox), should I switch to safari for editing my web page (for you Mac users). I am trying to just get a link or a thumbnail of a video to show up where people can click on it to go see the video or the album.

Learning! I think what I really want is just a link. Although learning how to embed is cool, but for what I need right now, I think link will work. So I put it on the home page and made a link to the YouTube video and set it to open up in a new browser. All that worked great! Next question. Can we get a page that we can edit like this that is password protected? I want to be able to put all these videos and analysis on our team page, but I don't necessarily want John Q. Public viewing our strengths and weaknesses! I don't mind posting pics and such on the home page for everyone to see, but this is more like training/practice for the players & parents. I understand I could put the team page on another site and then link back to the stats here, but I'd just like to keep it all here. Thanks!

Also, how does the sponsor page work for editing?

We will likely be adding a "Custom" page in the future that you can treat like another fully editable home page but label it any way you like and optionally password protect it as well. This would give you a way to have a public page and a protected page. For now, the only fully editable page is the Home page. You could alway password protect the home page for now if you wanted.

The "Photos" page can either be the pictures that are uploaded through the interface, or you can modify it to be a link to another page. So one option could be to make a YouTube channel for your team, and make the Photos page be a link to that YouTube channel. You could then have the Photos link be password protected so nobody would be able to link to the YouTube channel without the password.

For the Sponsor page, log in to the site as administrator, and you can add Logo Images, captions, and URL's to each sponsor for your team. One sponsor will be the main sponsor, and their logo will always appear under the navigation buttons to the left of the site. All others are always visible when someone clicks the Sponsors tab.

I think ftm answered everything, and gave more reason why if starting fresh google is a good solve...,it integrates well. The google channel gives you the album flexibility too

mobile me is valuable foe me because I already us it..and integrated in other ways, email, calendar and devices. But I think highly of google tools. And yes the photo page just links to one page only, it is up to that page weather it be google, mobile me, or flicker to create sub folders/ albums etc.

Ftm- glad to hear the extra 'custom page' is rising On the list.....

Yes, the added custom page will be good. Thanks for the advice on the YouTube channel, I think I will try that for now. I may try a picassa album on the home page for photos...

Another question...For the banner at the top of the home page, people are creating these images on their computer and then uploading them there? I don't see a place to just put the team name there in a specific font, so I assume that's what they are doing...unless I am missing something.

Thanks!

Actually, the YouTube channel will only work if you set the videos to public which will defeat the purpose, so I guess the best option for now is to put a password on the home page. Please get the custom page in as soon as possible! Thank you.

you are correct, the top logo/header are uploaded images and not text editor.
you have two areas to fill..
* the upper left corner ("header:logo") and
* the top banner ("header: background image).

Logos often work better than words in the header banner because the header image will "repeat" to fill the screen width.
