box score does not show all our pitchers

Post by gmish » Tue May 27, 2014 5:44 pm

tonight's game 5/27/14, the box score for our team (Basil) only shows 1 pitcher, even though there were three of us. Here is what we did:

1) We played the game with the correct starting pitcher

2) We forgot to change the pitchers during the game

3) We do not enter in opposing team at bats, so if they score, we do a game adjustment, and then we do an end inning after their at bat

4) After the game, we went into the play by play to change the pitchers

The stats show up correctly in the stat section of the game..... i.e. the 3 pitchers, how many innings, etc. But in the box score section, it only shows one pitcher.

Here is the section of the play by play in which we made the manual change:

Bottom of inning 4
Scott Garrels Triple 0 2
Pete Samargedlis Ground out, [Scott Garrels Scores] 0 3
Scott Maccready Walk 0 3
Brian Mcelroy Single, [Scott Maccready advances to Second] 0 3
Adam Field Single, [Scott Maccready advances to Third], [Brian Mcelroy advances to Second] 0 3
Dave Mcgue Sacrifice Fly, [Scott Maccready Scores] 0 4
Josh Murray Line Drive, Scott Garrels replaces Gavin Mish as Pitcher 0 4

Top of inning 5
Player 1 Inning Ended 0 4

Bottom of inning 5
Rick Fonz Line Drive

Could you tell us why this is happening and how we fix it?

Thank you

Since you are not actually scoring for the opposing team, you are not going to get pitching stats in the box score. If you start scoring for the opposing team, you will get both pitching stats and fielding stats for your team.

If you are just trying to get the pitchers to appear but not show stats for some reason, then after subbing in a pitcher, enter at least one pitch for the pitcher so iScore knows they actually pitched a pitch. If you just do the defensive substitution but never enter a pitch, iScore will not recognize that they actually threw a pitch, so they will not be shown as a pitcher.

If you ended game on defense, easiest fix is to undo last pitch, sub in one of the pitchers, make a pitch, sub in another, make the pitch, etc, then end game.

For FTMSupport....... this is actually not the case. For our game on 5/15 we made pitching substitutions, never entered a pitch for the other team (just did game adjustment or end inning), and all the pitchers did show up in the box score. Here is the play by play section for that 5/15 game showing that:

Dave Robinson Single 4 6
Mike DelPrete Ground out 4 6

Bottom of inning 3
Player 1 Brian Mcelroy replaces Gavin Mish as Pitcher, Inning Ended 4 6

Top of inning 4
Pete Samargedlis Line Drive 4 6
Lee Mish Single

This worked just fine, with box score showing all our pitchers, even though we just used "end inning". The only difference I can see between this functioning example here, and the non-functioning example from my first post, is that in this example, the substitution happens in the oppositions hitting 1/2 inning, with the sub going in right before the "end inning" (whereas in the non-functioning example, the sub goes in just after the last out of our team's hitting 1/2 inning). I have no idea why this would make a difference, but it is the only difference I can see. When I try to recreate this "correct" play by play in my original example, I can not get the substitution to happen before the "end inning"... see below:

Top of inning 2
Player 1 Inning Ended, Rick Fonz replaces Gavin Mish as Pitcher

It always shows up after the "end inning". I am guessing this is why it is not working. Could you tell me how to make it work just like in the 5/15 game's play by play?

We do not know why the 5/15 game would work if you are not entering a pitch for the player, but if you follow the steps we have outlined (entering at least one pitch for each pitcher), then we would expect things to work.

We expect there to be a pitch thrown for a pitcher or there is no way for iScore to know that the pitcher came in.

It would be a good idea to start scoring for the other team as well if you would like to get Pitching / Fielding stats as well.

makes sense.... My question however is this..... if we need to make the pitching substitution via play by play after the game is over, how do we then also enter a pitch via play by play after the game is over?

If you do an Options -> Export and email us at support@iscoresports.com with your customer ID, which game it is, and which players pitched, we can try and help you come up with a workaround for the existing game.

I will do this shortly. As an fyi, I'm not looking for a work around for just this game, it's men's softball, so forgetting to make a pitching change in the middle of the game when all of our players are on the field will be a common occurrence ...... we'll need a way to sub in a pitcher post game on a regular basis
