Following Runner Tagout

Post by PPPadre » Fri Apr 11, 2014 4:26 am

Situation - Bases loaded, two out, wild pitch, all runners advance one base, there is no attempt at a play at the plate but when the catcher throws back to the pitcher he fails to catch it. Runner from 2nd (now at third) attempts to score but the pitcher recovers the ball in time to get it to the catcher to tag runner out.

I attempted to score everything as a single play:
-Tap on runner at third.
-"What happened to runner at third?" "Safe/Home/Wild Pitch"
-"What happened to runner at second?" "Out/Home/Tagged Out/2-1-2"

When I keyed the sequence that way, the line score did not show an additional runner and the scorecard showed the runner originally at third as the one being tagged out, thus no run scoring.

I was able to work around this by scoring it as two plays:
-Tap on runner at third
-""What happened to runner at third?" "Safe/Home/Wild Pitch"
-"What happened to runner at second?" "Safe/3rd/Wild Pitch"
-"What happened to runner at first?" "Safe/2nd/Wild Pitch"
-Tap on runner at third (formerly at second)
-What happened to runner at third?" "Out/Tagged Out/2-1-2"

Is this a bug, or am I supposed to be entering this into iScore as two separate plays even though it was one continuous sequence?

Since you have runners advancing two separate ways (once on wild pitch and once when catcher is throwing back to pitcher), it would have to be entered as two sequences if you want to capture that.

Since an out was made, there is no reason to score these as two separate sequences (i.e. it was not a wild pitch AND an error). My concern was that the program was recording the out for the wrong player, thus not allowing a run to score.

If the situation were runner on 2nd, two outs, batter hits safely to the outfield, scoring the runner from 2nd, but the batter-runner is tagged out at second trying to advance on the throw home that ended up being cut off, iScore would record the put out on the batter, not the runner on second, and would ask whether the run scored - all in the same sequence. (Had that scenario happen before.)

In my current situation described in the original post, it gave the out to the wrong player and didn't score the run if entered as a single sequence.

i do not see the issue.. I entered it just as you described it and no issues

Situation - Bases loaded, two out,

wild pitch, all runners advance one base, there is no attempt at a play at the plate

but when the catcher throws back to the pitcher he fails to catch it. Runner from 2nd (now at third) attempts to score but the pitcher recovers the ball in time to get it to the catcher to tag runner out.

…………….
iscore
tap runner at three, advance to home on wild pitch… radiance runner to 3rd on wild pitch .. advance runner to 2 on wild pitch (only one wild pitch in states, 1 runner scored and 1 on 2nd and third)

tap runner now at 3rd, advance to home, tagged out, 1-2.

…………………..

you just scored it exactly how you described it and do not worry about 1 sequence or
