How to calculate QAB3

Post by michellesayre » Sun Mar 24, 2013 10:19 pm

I use an android device, and am looking at the player stats for QAB3. I would like to be able to calculate the QAB3% stat on my own so that I can build my own custom QAB stat in my spreadsheets. My question is, how is the QAB3 number calculated?

The default version of the QAB3 stat includes 5 measures: Hit w/RISP, RBI, Sac Bunt, Sac Fly, 6+ Pitches.

The season-to-date QAB3 number for my batter is 4.

The batter has the following stats season-to date: 3 Hits w/RISP, 5 RBIs, 0 Sac Bunts, 0 Sac Flys, and under 6+ Pitches, there are 2 P6 and 1 P7.

How do these stats calculate out to be a QAB3 number of 4?

Thanks

It is the number of at bats where those criteria were met.

So the 3 hits w/RISP would account for 3 of them.

The 4th would likely be one of the at bats with 6+ pitches. Whichever one was not for the Hit w/RISP.

You can not be given two QAB for a single at bat.

Ok got it. Since I have an android device, I am not able to create my own custom QAB stat. In order to do this, I need to calculate based on at each player's game-by-game performance. Is this correct? How can I get a spreadsheet version of the stats for each player? It looks like the player card only exports in pdf format, not xls format.

That is correct - the player card can only be emailed as PDF. You can email the Game Stats and Cumulative stats as Excel and CSV if you would like. So you could take each of the game emails and grab the player information if you wanted.

What is it that you are trying to do that the QAB stat is not doing?

I'd like to have different variations of QAB that includes additional items such as walks or Fielder's Choice. Combining all of the game stats together would be a lot of work. What is the time line for customizable QAB stats for Android?

We have it near the top of our list. We don't have a date, but it is important for us to add that feature to Android as well.

Ok thank you. Another question on QAB3. I'm looking at one of my batters' player's card and again trying to understand QAB3.

On March 10th, she had 3 plate appearances where she hit 2 RBIs, 1 H/RSP, 0 Sacs and 0 6+ pitches.
All of these happened during the same at-bat, giving her a QAB number of 1.
1 divided by 3 plate appearances is 33.3%, which is her QAB%. This one I can follow. It's the next scenario that I am not able to understand.

On March 1st, she had 2 plate appearances where she hit 1 RBI, 1 H/RSP, 0 Sacs and 0 6+ pitches.
All of these happened during the same at-bat, which I think should give her a QAB number of 1. However, iScore's QAB for this game is 0, and her QAB3% is 0.
Why does she not have a QAB number for this game when she had an RBI and an H/RSP? I would think her QAB number is 1 with QAB% of 50.

Thanks,
Michelle

We would have to see the data to know why this is happening. If you can do an Options -> Export and email your customer ID to support@iscoresports.com along with the details (game/player involved), we can take a look at your data to see what is going on.
