Double Plays

Post by jks0157 » Sat May 19, 2012 9:44 pm

I saw a previous posting about double plays. I am running version 3.51.106 on IPhone and I do not see an option for double plays. The previous posting said if I 'swipe' the out button the quick plays would have a double play. But when I do that all I see are options for regular ground outs and no double play is listed. When I use the out button normally I also see no option for double plays. Where is it at? Has it been removed?

There has to be a runner on first in order for the double play options to be seen.

Okay. Tried that with a sample game and the 'quick out' method does show it. But does it not have a double play under the regular 'out' method for when the out is not made at second base, or even if the out is not made at first? For example, runners on first and second, Third baseman steps on third and throws to first, or throws to second?

Yes, you can enter double plays through the regular menu as well. For your example, you would enter Out, Ground Out, enter where ball was hit, tap 5-5-3 (the extra 5 is to give the third baseman both an assist and a putout), it will ask what happened to the runner on second, tap Out, Third, Double Play.

Maybe I'm missing something but when I do that it does not show up as double play in stats.

As long as for the runner being put out, your select Double Play, it will count both as an offensive GIDP and a defensive Double Play for all players involved in the out. If you are never tapping the "Double Play" button (e.g. you are tapping Force Out for the runner) then it will not be counted as a double play.

OK. I see now. I was expecting it to show up on the batter unstead of the runner.

I believe that whether you tap 5-5-3 or 5-3, it gives the same stats. Any reason to do one over the other?

You are correct. We just verified both 5-3 and 5-5-3 give the same stats. Somewhere it was reported that users were having to repeat a player for unassisted outs to give the assist and the putout to the fielding player, but it does not appear tht is the case with this play.
