Sacrifice Hit vs. out

New to the board and have not been able to find an answer to this question.

Is it a sacrifice or an out in the following situation(s):
No outs. Runners on 2nd & 3rd. Batter hits to the 2nd baseman. 2nd baseman throws to 1st base for the out. Runner on 3rd scores and runner on 2nd moves to 3rd.
Is it a straight out or sacrifice?
I am only seeing Sac Fly or Sac Bunt as my scoring options.

Would it also be a sacrifice if there was a runner on 2nd and the batter is thrown out at 1st and the runner on 2nd advances to 3rd.

This is just a standard ground out, it is not a sacrifice. If the batter bunts to score the runner, then it is a sacrifice, but if the batter is swinging, then it is just a ground out. They DO get credit for an RBI, but not a sacrifice.

Thanks for the response. That is what I had scored it as. Our coach says it should be a sacrifice because the definition of a sacrifice is any time a batter makes an out that advances or scores the runner he "sacrificed" himself for the good of the team. Therefore, he is not penalized with an "at bat". Any response to this?

A batter swinging the bat is not intentionally sacrificing himself - he is trying to get a hit. A batter that bunts a ball is intentionally letting himself get out in order to score the run. A deep fly ball that is caught allowing a runner to tag up from third counts as a sacrifice fly. But other than a sacrifice bunt or sacrifice fly, there are no other sacrifices.
