Hi, new to iScore. I’m enjoying the app, and happy to have it. I’ve scored routine double plays a couple of times, but came upon a situation today that stumped me. Here’s the sitch:
Bases loaded, one out. Batter grounds to second. Second baseman fields the ball, steps on second base (out no. 2,) and completes the double play by throwing to first, to end the half-inning.
After much trial and error, here’s how I scored the play: I tapped the batter as “out,” then tapped the location of the ball (near 2nd base,) then tapped 4-3 for the putout. iScore asked me what happened to the runners on 2nd and 3rd. Neither scored, so the best I could figure was to keep them on their respective bases and tap “advanced by runner.” To score the force at second, I tapped the runner at first, then tapped “force out.”
The scorecard seemed to indicate things properly, but I’m no expert.
Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated in advance.

How do I score a bases loaded double play to end the inning?

I think what you did works.
The better way is to advance the runners. For the runner on third, select "run not scored".

Re: How do I score a bases loaded double play to end the inning?
Hi Mark,
Thanks for your input. I guess I’d feel better about recording the situation described above if iScore allowed me to score the 4-3 double play first. That way, with the third out recorded, iScore would know that the half-inning has ended and not need to ask what happened with the runners at 2nd and 3rd—they would be automatically recorded as “left on base.”
Perhaps you can help me with the first part of the same play. Scoring a double play is fairly straightforward when three fielders are involved: 5-4-3, 4-6-3, etc. But do you know of a simple way to score a DP when only two fielders are involved, as in the example above?
Thanks again,
MetMan

Re: How do I score a bases loaded double play to end the inning?
Only thing I would change is score it as 4-4-3. This gives second baseman both the assist and put out.

Scoring the play as 4-4-3 makes sense, as does recording the disposition of the runner at 3rd in the original setup as “Runner did not score.”
