earned run on an error followed by a FC?
earned run on an error followed by a FC?
I scored a game last night, leadoff batter reaches first base on an error (by 2nd).. the next batter hits into a fielder's choice ground ball to third (5 to 6 FC for force out at second), the third batter gets a single, the fourth batter hits a triple, driving in two runs.. The next two batter k's, inning over, batter with the triple was left on third.
Question, I think the pitcher is charged with only one ER since the batting on via the error was replaced with the batter hitting into a FC and therefore wouldn't have been on base. Right?
Did I enter something wrong or why did I-Score record this as two ER's. Sometimes that FC is tough to enter correctly.
I found this ruling on earned runs and it seems to support my thought?
A run is counted as unearned when:
• A batter reaches base on a fielder's choice which removes a baserunner who has reached base safely on an error or has remained on base as the result of an error, reaching first base on a passed ball on a called or swinging third strike, or remained on base on an error on a fielders' choice play that should have retired him, and subsequently scores.

Agree that there should be 1 ER. Recreating the inning w/o errors would be:
Out
Out
Single
Triple
K
inning over
Scoring it in iScore, it does show as 2 ERs.
Sometimes iScore has no way of knowing if the runs are earned or not, but I'm surprised this doesn't result in 1 ER.

Re: earned run on an error followed by a FC?
You are correct that iScore does not calculate the unearned run correctly in this case. We will get this fixed for a future update. For now, you can manually override the ER stat for the pitcher post game by editing the stats directly.

Re: earned run on an error followed by a FC?
Thanks, to edit in I go to Game, pitchers stats for home team, click on earned ru which says 7 and change to 6, right? The push recal?
Re: earned run on an error followed by a FC?
Got it.... Are there other stats and glitches I need to watch and fix manually or is it just up to me to maybe find them? That's scary, most score keepers wouldn't know the difference and the entire time they'd be thinking ans selling their stats are correct and right on? I have been telling other program users, mostly the totally free ones they get what they pay for ... Inaccurate stats sheets?
Re: earned run on an error followed by a FC?
So i went back and fixed manually but it doesn't fix the scorecard only the stats? I noticed the infield is still totally dark blue indicated it was an earned run?

That is correct... stat overrides would have no way of knowing specifically which play you are updating. When we fix the issue with that particular situation, it will show correctly on the scorecard.

Re: earned run on an error followed by a FC?
Thanks, another one, perhaps the same outcome but ow I know how i can fix....
Lead off batter hits HR, 1-RBI... Second batter grounds out, one down.
Next batter hits a single and advances to second via an error on the left fielder. The next batter k's, runner on second base holds... Now there are two down, next batter hits a single and advances to second via another error on the left fielder... The runner on second also scores on her single, but really doesn't score on the single, but on the error... So it too isn't an ER, right?

Re: earned run on an error followed by a FC?
You should have that runner advancing to home on Error, and it will not be an earned run. If you mark it as Advanced by Batter when going home, you are telling iScore it is an earned run.
