Intentional walk high school rules.... Why?

Post by Camerabry » Fri Jan 20, 2012 4:16 pm

Why in the world do they allow the pitcher to intentionally walk a batter without throwing a pitch? Why do they allow it with runners on base?

11u follows high school rules on walks and it's the dumbest thing ever considering it holds the runners for no reason what so ever.

Is there a reason for it that makes sense?

It is a NFHS rule to allow no pitch walks.

A coach can still choose to pitch out.

I know, but no defensive coach would do that. I'm just curious why the rule exists. It can't be to save the arm.

It speeds up play.

So many things can happen during an intentional walk that I can't imagine it's because of speed of play. Trim one warm up pitch per inning then.
