On the throw button

Hello,
Can someone please give me a example of when I would use the "on the throw" button?

Runner on first, batter hits single to right... runner on first runs to third, and outfielder tries throwing to third. Original batter advances to second "On the Throw". Several variations on this, but that should give you an idea.

I use it most often when a runner is ahead of the batter. Exampke: The batter hits into the outfield and the outfielder tries to get the first runner out at, say, home. The batter only gets credited with a single but gets an extra base "on the throw".
