I have begun scoring games for travel fastpitch teams. In most cases, I will not have the opponent's starting lineup when the game begins. Therefore, I simply create the "Quick Lineup" and enter 10 batters. Then, as they come to bat, I get their number and alter the lineup. If their 9th hitter is followed by the leadoff hitter, I simply go in and set the 10th "Quick" player to "No" batting. That seems to work fine.
The problem is this: let's say the opponent is the Home team and I want to record their pitcher. I know what number she is but I have no idea where she is in the lineup. Even if the opponent is the visiting team and they've already batted prior to her taking the mound and me catching her number, there's a good chance that she didn't bat in the top of the first so I still don't know where she is in the lineup. What I'm getting at is that it would be nice to have a way to note that #4 is the starting pitcher and then when she comes to bat, I can attach the opponent's pitching stats to her without having to go back two or three innings in to the game and going to the starting lineup via the "Pitch-by-Pitch" which requires exiting the scoring screen.
An example of where this is needed: We batted first and hit #4 pretty hard, but she finished the inning. The opponent went down 1-2-3. Top of the Second: We knocked out the starter after two hard hits. #12 relieved #4 two balls into the count on the third batter. #12 had also not batted yet in the bottom of the first. So now, since I can't record who either pitcher is since I don't have the opponent's lineup, I'm having to make mental notes of what batter the change was made on and what the count was, etc. Finally, three innings into the game, #4 and #12 come to the plate. I have to exit the scoring screen, go to the Pitch-by-Pitch, edit the starting lineup to add #4 as the pitcher, move over to the second inning and attempt to find the batter and pitch count where #12 came in (which is difficult on the small iPod screen where the contrast is not the greatest).
I know this particular item is going to be clunky no matter how it's done and I'm probably the only one who has run in to this situation, but if there were some sort of "Memory" button to "hold" the pitchers until they could be attached to the lineup, that would be fantastic!
Really love the app and am using it for two travel teams and two middle school teams! Thanks so much!
Wait... I think I just figured out my own issue as I was proofreading my post! But I'll go ahead and post it anyway in case anyone else has run into a similar situation. What I can do is to set the last hitter in the opponent's lineup as #4. When #12 relieves her, I can set the next-to-last hitter as #12. Then, when they finally do come to bat, I just "slide" #4 up in the order. Genius! I'll try it this weekend and see if it works. Sorry for the diatribe.

Re: Starting pitcher for unknown opponent...
We would suggest setting the pitcher as soon as you see who it is (go to Misc -> Show Starting Lineup and just decide that one of the player's is the pitcher and set their player number). When they come to bat, use Misc -> Show Starting Lineup to put them in the right batting spot. If another pitcher comes in that has not yet batted, just choose another one of your quick players to be pitcher #2 --- put in their jersey number. When they come to the plate, use Misc -> Show Starting Lineup, and rearrange the batters accordingly again.

Very common situation, the key is mastery of when to use misc > starting line up... Vs substitutions....
