What happened to lead runner missing when using held up..

Post by OhioTex » Wed Apr 27, 2011 9:17 pm

IPad .

When the game starts with two straight hits, In pitch by pitch What happen to the lead runner is "missing" when you use "held up" instead of advance by batter. Is this dy design or a bug?

Easier to demonstrate an example than explain...

New game
B1 hit a single held up
B2 hit a double held up, what happen to runner on first? Safe, third, held up.

The pitch by pitch does not show b1 getting to third, (and is now not editable...). Expected to see, batter b1 advances to third. That is what you get if you use advance by batter.

If I do advance by batter instead of held up, it seems to

That is right... "held up" does not create an event in the database that can be edited. "Advanced by Batter" does.

Learned something new..

Advanced users reading.. You may want to take note..

I know it is subtle, but there is a small but important distinction for non batter-runners when using advance by batter or held up in response to ' what happened to runner at x base?

In the past I have said, no difference.. held up/ advance by batter = same result.

Go forward I am going to use advance by batter as my default, because it allows future editing if need be.

P.s. I assume if it impacts pitch by pitch it also is not reflected in iscorecast display too. (need to verify this sometime)

Enjoy all!
