Allow Preset substitutions after game start
Allow Preset substitutions after game start
I get the opposing team's lineup and fielding chart too close to game time to be able to input all the preset field substitutions for their team. It would be great to be able to make changes to it after starting the game.

Re: Allow Preset substitutions after game start
You are getting preset fielding positions for each inning from the opposing team? You are very lucky if that is the case... we will add updating preset fielding positions after the game has started to the enhancement list, but it seems like it might not be many people that can benefit. If others are getting this as well, please do let us know.

I get their complete lineup with fielding positions, only problem is it's right before the game starts.

Re: Allow Preset substitutions after game start
They are giving you fielding positions by inning? or just the starting lineup? You can change their starting lineup fielding positions at any time by using Misc->Show Starting lineup, and editing the starting positions that way. We are sure you are familiar with how subs work... just clicking players, not using the starting lineup for that (mentioning in case new users are reading this --- don't want people thinking they do subs by using Misc->Show Starting Lineup).

Re: Allow Preset substitutions after game start
Many times we get the other teams lineup just before the play ball is called. You can set up the other team with a quick roster then use Misc: Starting lineup to input the roster you were handed between at bats or innings.
Getting the roster early is a challenge sometimes but I will sometimes wander over to the other bench and ask the coach if he has a roster I can input while showing him the iPad. Often this works.

Re: Allow Preset substitutions after game start
I get the complete game positions. What I get has the batting line up then a table with the fielding position down the left with the inning across the top.
What I'm doing now is substituting the pitcher each inning and then going into pitch by pitch after the game is over and doing the rest of the defensive substitutions.
It would be nice even just to have the pitching substitutions in and have that occur automatically and have that substitution entry to edit in pitch by pitch. I guess I just need to identify the pitchers each inning in the preset subs screen and I'd at least have the substitution entry available to edit after the game.
In this league, it is coach pitch and a player can not play the same position twice in the game unless it has to go to an extra inning due to a tie. I don't get the lineup for that inning, most coaches just take the lineup from one of the innings played and use it.
In the fall, we will be in player pitch.

Re: Allow Preset substitutions after game start
Once you have the starting line up names and jersey numbers set (misc starting line up)
Doing Defensive subs, especially if pre written by inning are easy to do from the scoring screen as you go . Just tap a defensive icon and make all the subs.
Tap Position, player, position, player etc

Re: Allow Preset substitutions after game start
We have 10 to 11 defensive players in an inning. It's pretty tough getting them all in before a pitch is thrown. We play 11 defensive positions if a team has 11 or 12 players. This season most teams have 10 our team has 11. It's less stressful just to sub the pitcher and get the rest later since it's not really enough time to get them all in.
My son is scoring on the ipad and I'm scoring on paper in case the ipad overheats. We always have people (coaches mostly) asking in between innings if the scoreboard is correct, etc.

Re: Allow Preset substitutions after game starts
Been there done that in youth ball.
But with two people, one on ipad and one calling out jersey number by position- it takes less than a minute... the major challenge doing live is getting kids in outfield to turn and show their number. Even with all the normal distractions between innings if you have it pre written and open up the sub screen for pitcher, I think you are talking 15 seconds to tap the other 8/9 fielder icon - player combos. Bang bang. Faster now than later in pitch editor
in my opinion.

Re: Allow Preset substitutions after game start
If I was doing the subs on the ipad I would agree, but my 12 yo son is doing them. If I was to take the ipad and do the subs, he would likely not want to score anymore. He's the better scorer and is great at scoring on the ipad. It takes longer for him to find the players in the substitution list than it would take an adult. I've called it out to him before but more often than not, we can't make it through all the fielders before the game is back underway. I'm happy if we don't forget to sub the pitcher and then I can go back after the game to get the rest done.
The first time we play a team we don't usually have their jersey number, we have to get those as they bat.
