Tagging Games for Stat computation

Post by CoachJBA » Thu Jul 12, 2012 4:44 am

I did not see this anywhere and I think I have the only workaround but it would be a great feature if you could tag specific games for stat computation. We play about 75 games a year and while the overall stats can be helpful the last 12-20 are what we look at for who will pitch and how we will set up the batting order. I have been saving, exporting, deleting games, recalculating, then importing the original, adding new games....
It is getting harded/longer to do as the season progresses, anyone have a better way? Did I miss some functionality that can make this easier?

This can be accomplished using leagues. See this thread for more information in how to set up leagues.

@coachjba

Leagues are a much easier way to do that. (plus Exporting and importing complete data base has potential for accidental erasure of data if not very careful)

Yep, as noted, this is what Leagues are for. Wow, and I thought managing Leagues was tedious...you are definitely doing the hard way :-)

While leagues would work for this, I'd definitely +1 an option to tag games to include for stats.. A list of games, checkbox next to each, then compute. Better than setting up fake leagues (which aren't leagues anyway).

A simple example for me would be to find out the stats against a particular team.. Just pick the few games with them, and show the stats..

@frachel - I've been asking for the same thing along the lines of what you're asking. What would really be nice is to pull the cumulative stats versus a particular opponent just by selecting the opponent in a scrollable menu. The program would then perform a lookup and provide all of the same stats as if you were looking at a league.

Yes, I know the league function does this - however, the league function is also tedious work when it comes to practical application when trying to slice & dice the stats (data). Auto-lookups driven by user defined criteria makes for a much smoother and friendlier user experience in the app.
