first batter of the game. went to swipe the out for a 4-3 ground out.
1st problem, could not read the screen. Using the light contrast and the popup box was all black.
2nd problem, after changing to dark contrast, could see the popup box, but there was no ground out.
killing the app from the background and rebooting, still the same problem.
I missed the whole game!!!!

FDT92,
I'm going to test this out when I get home. I have 10 games this weekend that we are scoring and most during the day. Thanks for the heads up.
Cheers,
Jason

I was able to replicate the problem...sometimes..
I opened a test game, used the same test game each time,
It just happens to be bottom of first, first batter in that half inning. (ie I do not think it is an issue for first batter of a game... Could be first batter of an inning, but likely any batter)
I flick the out, sometimes I get right screen, sometimes the pictured black screen. I have closed the game and re opened and done this both ways multiple times. (when it happens click bottom center button to cancel) then try the dark skin and i replicated the odd out screen. Shown above.
The only tip/clue I can give, it looks like an iPhone screen, not an iPad screen. Given where the buttons are located.. Especially, On the green out screen shown, it too looks like an iPhone screen having the more button vs other. When you tap more, only a few buttons rotate..
Feels like some iPhone ( universal?) code in the app...
iPad v 3.0 portrait mode current iOS 4.2.1
p.s. Great find and screen shots!

I tested this on an old test game I had. The issue for me was if I started the app in landscape, then started the game from game manager, play, then flicked the out button then I got the odd out options. When I started in portrait no issues. Just my findings so far.

I just tried and so far what I'm finding is that when you go into the scoring screen, if you first input an out using the shortcut swipe, you get the screen like shown above, but if you touch out w/o the swipe then cancel then do the swipe it's fine. Each time entering the scoring screen, if I do the swipe on the out I get the screen like above. If after getting that screen, you select "in play" you also get a screen like above showing only out options, no safe options.
The workaround seems might be that EVERY TIME you enter the scoring screen, select the out button then cancel because then everything seems to be okay. More testing would be needed to see if that will hold out. I just tried a couple of plays in 1 inning and it seemed okay.

I can make it happen in portrait mode if the first out I input is using the swipe action.

Some more findings..
First, does not happen every time, you can enter the scoring screen, and flick out and get the right screen.... (ie the workaround may work but not required)
Second, I replicated the same problems with dark screen. the second problem screen seems to happen after the first problem screen, regardless of skin ( Think the skin is a non issue)
Third, I can replicate in landscape mode and portrait mode
Fourth, I think I can get the problem when I hold the flick longer, hold flick more likely triggers, light fast flick ok..
The issue I think is the flick style, heavy vs light triggers a different code

Further testing - if the In Play button is selected before using the out, you can then do the swipe action and get the correct screen (without having to do the "out" button and cancel I suggested earlier). I'm seeing the problem if you are first trying to swipe an out versus either putting a ball in play or just selecting the out button without a swipe regardless of how quickly I'm flicking for the swipe.

Seems to Be limited to the first batter when you enter the scoring screen regardless of inning or out or position in line up... ( I tried multiple out and inning situations)
The workaround of out cancel worked great for me
Also i can still get the right screen with a lighter flick, but a hold and flick triggers the black screen..
I am going to retire on this one and let FTM have a shot at it.

I had the same issue today but was able to select cancel (holding down options could see the lettering, swiping away would not select the option so I could see "Cancel". I selected "Undo" and rescored the at bat and everything worked fine after.
