Version 2.10 of iScore Baseball was approved today.

It would be greatly appreciated if people could update their reviews / ratings so they apply to the latest release. We got a few low ratings with the previous release, and we are nearly certain it was because of not working on Jailbroken devices. That is not something we have any control of, but we spent a lot of effort trying to make sure this release does work with Jailbroken devices even though Apple does not support them.

Updates for this release:
  • Put in a new Sqlite Engine that allows iScore to work on Jailbroken devices
  • Now capturing Type of Hit (Grounder, Line Drive, Popup, Fly Ball) as well as Strength of Hit (Soft, Medium, Hard)
  • You can now add notes during the game (notes button in top area where "Twitter" is)
  • Added setting for pitch locations so you can say whether you are entering location from behind the Catcher or behind the Pitcher
  • Ability to edit player names right from sub screen instead of having to go to Lineup
  • Added setting so you can enter Pitch locations before the play or after the play (under game options menu)
  • Error no longer being assigned to catcher on Passed Ball
  • Confirmation when Exit is clicked so it no longer happens by accident
  • Rearranged bottom buttons to avoid misclicks
  • Force outs now allow entering of "touches" when applicable
  • Player card stats now deleted when a game is deleted
  • Passed balls now only credited to catcher once even when two runners advance
  • You can now adjust hit locations without having to re-enter entire play
  • Fixed bug with subs sometimes inheriting previous at bat info from the batter they replaced on the scoring screen (did not effect stats)
  • Jersey # now displayed on stats output
  • Scorecard now handles multiple sets of touches in a single box correctly
  • Can now set side of plate for switch hitter by simply dragging hitter to correct side on scoring screen
  • Added Caught Stealing as an offensive stat
  • Pinch hitters now correctly count a game played in stats
  • Fixed issues with Quick Roster players showing/not showing in the Player Manager list
  • Pop outs now show as "Px" instead of "Fx"
  • Added optional sounds when Ball/Strike/Foul are pressed as an additional indication they have been pressed
  • Fixed apostrophes in team/game names breaking iScorecast
  • Fixed issue with using Quick Roster to add to existing roster
  • Fixed "white buttons" issue
  • Team stats now order by Batting Average for batting stats, Fielding Percentage for fielding stats, and ERA for pitching stats

Known Issue: [blockquote]
In version 2.10 the Swap Lineups feature was removed because of the confusion it caused, leaving only Swap Teams. The Cancel button was inadvertently made the Swap Lineups button however so be aware if you click Swap then Cancel your Team Lineups will be swapped. Simply repeat the process to undo it.

AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME!
Very nice list of enhancemnts!

Questions:
"Pop outs now show as 'Px' instead of 'Fx'"
What is the difference between a pop out and a fly out?

"Can now set side of plate for switch hitter by simply dragging hitter to correct side on scoring screen"
Is the side they hit from captured and reported anywhere in the player's stats? Another words, can I see the batting average for my daughter when she hits from the right versus slap hits from the left?

Thanks FTM!!!
Don

The difference between a pop out and a fly out is really a judgment call, and one that many people do not care to make, but we have had a few requests for it so now support it. Generally a pop out is a weak fly ball... like a pop up to second base might be a "pop out" whereas a deep fly ball to center field might be a "fly out".

We originally did not distinguish pop outs from fly outs... in fact, it is still a single button when scoring an out. But we now support the "type of hit" which can be marked as a "Grounder", "Line Drive", "Popup", or "Fly Ball". If a play is marked as a "pop/fly out", the scoresheet then looks at the hit type to determine whether it was a popup or fly ball, and shows the "P" or "F" accordingly. Incidentally, we also now support marking the hits as Soft/Medium/Hard, and the two things combined are now designated differently on the spray chart so you can tell if a player's previous at bats were Hard Grounders, Soft Popups, or whatever now as well.

For the Switch Hitters, we are currently just storing the side of the plate. We are in the process of updating iScorecast to show the side of the plate the batter hit from (will be updated shortly), and in the future, we will be allowing more advanced analytics based on the side of the plate the user batted from. For now, it is another data point we capture that will have much more benefit in the future, and the future features will take advantage of any data that is captured now.

Thanks for the enhancement list.

In order for the new and/or changed stats to become effective, do we need to do anything with the existing data that we have?

Thanks!

No, the updates are automatic for previously entered data for game and cumulative stats.

The "Player Card" stats actually used cached values. So in order to get updated stats for Player Cards, you would have to go to the "Game Over" scoring screen for that game to cause the cached values to update.

Thanks again to FTM and this Community to continue to improve a great program.

I have found Notes to be my most favourite addition in this release, it is great ! I encourage eveyone to try it out!!

In addition to being able to add notes in real time, FTM has made them “editable”, so you can go back when you have more time to type and add, revise, or remove them after a game in the play-by-play pitch editor.

It is the perfect place to capture nopt only notes on those special, unusual or outstanding plays that happen in the game..but also any game specific special items or rules (e.g., time limit, free substitution, etc) .

Unfortunately, at this time, there is no easy way to print out this information. Hopefully this will be a feature addition in a future release. Would like to see a footnote mark on the score card and its associated comment printed at the end of the scorebook on a page of end notes.

I haven't had a chance to score a game with the update yet. Is the type of hit indicated on the scorecard as well? (i.e.: solid line for fly ball, dotted line for grounder, etc.)

Thanks!!!!

Yes, the type of hit is indicated on the scorecard, though it is indicated as a letter in the box, not a different line type. The box is too small for curved lines / dotted lines to really show well, so a letter indicating the type of hit was used instead.

Yes there are icons for soft, medium or hard hit as well as grounder, line drive, pop up or fly ball. Additionally the graphic for the batter at the next at bat has different colors or dotted lines to indicate strength of hit and the line is straight for fly balls or high curve line for a right field weak pop up. Definitely a nice addition for a coach during live play.
