IPhone Software for ITouch

Post by 5Gaskins » Mon Oct 04, 2010 10:25 am

I am trying to load IScore onto my my ITouch but keeps returning "This application requires the IPhone 3.0 Software Update" I don't have an IPhone. Does that mean I can't use IScore on my ITouch?

You can update your iPod Touch to the latest version of the iPhone OS (4.1) for free by connecting your iPod Touch to iTunes. After you do that update, you will be able to run iScore just fine. Apple no longer supports submitting applications to the App Store that were built with OS 2.x as a target, so unfortunately OS 3.x is now the earliest version you can have to run the software. But as noted, upgrading is free, so we are hoping this does not impact too many people. Thank you.

What version of operating system do you have on your iPod Touch? Go to the Settings app and touch General and then About. What does it say for Version?

2.2 - can I upgrade directly to my Itouch or does it have to go thru my PC?

We believe Apple may require you to connect your iPod Touch to iTunes through a PC or Windows machine to do the update. They want to make sure iTunes gets backups of your current device, etc when doing the upgrade. When you connect, they have a "Check for Updates" button available that will guide you through the process. In fact, often times it will just prompt you right when you connect asking if you would like to Upgrade (unless you have previously turned off those reminders).

Is your iTunes and iPod Touch linked together? Do other applications sync? Does the iPod Touch use the same account that iScore Baseball was purchased with (i.e. the same user name and password)?

As long as the iPod Touch uses the same account that iScore was purchased with, you can actually now go to the App Store directly on your device, and go through the steps to purchase iScore again. As long as the same User Name and Password are used that were used when you made the original purchase, the App Store will recognize that and ask if you want to download the application again for free (this works for ANY application, not just iScore).
