I am currently scoring a MLB game using the MLB Stats, and found the following bugs/problems:

1) Completely wrong AVGs. There seems to be two ways of displaying stats on the Player Card. The first time you download stats and before scoring a game with these players, you will see a vertically oriented list of cumulative stats, one below the other. In this view, stats are OK.
After you have scored a game, the stats appear as a horizontally oriented table, with individual game stats below the current game, which is showing cumulative stats. These cumulative stats are WRONG. Somehow, At bats end up as Plate appearances, giving way off AVGs. I have no idea where the number ending as At Bats come from.

2) Defensive players disappear. The bug where, after coming back from other screens, defensive player numbers disappear, is still around. Happened to me while trying to sort out the stat problem I stated above, going to the Player Card and coming back. Quitting the app and getting back in solves the issue, as it has always done in the past. Checked my available memory and it was 20MB.

3) Crash. Trying to find out what was causing the stat problem, I was going to the Player Card and coming back to the game scoring a lot, and the app crashed and unexpectedly quitted. My available memory was, again 19 to 20 Mb. I went back in, and could not reproduce the error.

4) Crash. While scoring, wanted to go to main screen, clicked "Exit" and the program unexpectedly quitted. 17Mb free memory available (after the crash, cannot check while on app). Could not reproduce on a consistent basis, but happened again once.

5) Made a substitution (Jeremy Reed for Fernando Tatis, which had a strikeout looking in his only at bat) and when the new player comes to bat for the first time, he appears as having 0-0, but with a previous at bat, batting a Sac bunt to pitcher. I can't find how or where this is scored. Nothing shows in the play by play or scorecard, at least I have not found anything. (The pitcher has a sac bunt, but he appears correctly.) Trying to find out the error in the scorecard and going back to the game gave me the defensive players numbers disappearing again for a second time (see number 2 above)

6) Would be nice if your stat supplier could be "actual" for double headers. This game was the second of a double-header. Downloaded stats data a couple of minutes before the game, but it did not include the afternoon game stats. Not a serious thing, but it would be nice and correct to have the actual stats.

I have already stated elsewhere about when a pitcher comes to bat, we only get the pitching stats, but I think this needs a new version to get corrected, right? (and cannot stress enough my wish about in-game stats addition on real time)

First off... let us ask this... are you using iPhone OS 3.0? There is a serious memory leak with that version of the iPhone OS, and it would explain most issues. If you ARE using iPhone OS 3.0, you should upgrade to 3.1 right away as it fixes the memory leaks that 3.0 has. (This is for ALL applications... it is not iScore specific.) Please let us know if this is the case.

For #1, we show the vertical stats listing until a game has been scored. Once a game is scored, we go to the horizontal listing so you can see the stats of each game you have scored. One of the rows will be the cumulative stats, and the other rows will be for individual games that you have scored. Note that you can also use the "Flip" on the Player Card to see the stats for each player directly on MLB.com.

For #2, #3, and #4, if it is not reproducible, it really seems that it is related to low memory conditions.

For #5, are the stats showing correctly when you look at post game stats? We have (again) seen the in-game recap be incorrect when memory issues are occurring.

For #6, it will not be possible to get the between game double header stats. We only get a feed once a day --- we do not get the data in real time. Even if we could do twice a day stats updates, there is no way to assure it would happen between the two games of a double header. We are not sure if the MLB.COM data is updated between games, but if it is, and you look on the Flip side of the player cards, you will see that data.

We have the Pitcher only showing pitching stats on our list for a future update.

To answer your first question, yes I have 3.1.

For #1, maybe I did not explain myself correctly. I understand the layout perfectly, I was just describing it. The problem is not the layout. It's the stats. When a game or games have been scored, the stats are wrong! EXAMPLE: Let's say I have NOT scored a game in which Player A participate. Going to the player card will show that this player has 108 At Bats. Going to MLB.com will show the same. Now, let's say I scored a game last saturday. During the game, the stats still appear as vertically oriented, as expected, and everything is still fine (although not current since iScore does not add stats during the game). Player A had two official at bats, and I know that will be 108 + 2=110 ABs, for an AVG of .290 (for example). The problem arises in the next game I will score. I download stats as usual. I begin the game, Player A comes to bat, I click on his name, go to the Player Card, everything is horizontal, as it should, BUT, in the cumulative stats, Player A appears as having 110 PA, NOT AB. In the AB column, Player A displays 95 AB!!! I don't know where 95 came from. Going to MLB.com shows that all other stats are OK, but the ABs (110) in iScore are at PA, and obviously the AVG is way off, Player A appears as batting .326!!! I checked this with almost every player during the game, going back and forth in iScore and in the web to MLB.com and the problem is consistent.

For #2,3,4 I agree with you. I usually turn off my iPhone completely before using iScore. This time I didn't, I just checked my free memory and seeing 20Mbs I assume I was set to go. This was a bug-prone game, and I will have to blame me not turning it off beforehand. Maybe this should convinve me to upgrade to an 3Gs

For #5, in-game scorecard and play-by-play was correct, didn't have to wait after the game. The problem was the main screen which showed incorrect at bats, incorrect bat spray chart (showed the bunt to pitcher) and I really don't know from where the app was getting the info, since play-by-play, scorecard and stats all where correct.

For #6, I understand the difficulties of that kind of sync, especially a day with lots games at different times. Not to sound like a broken record, but for me this will be solved by having iScore add stats in real time...

If you can export your database to us with and give us a specific example with your data, it will help us track down the issue. We have not seen this issue with our own testing. Thanks.

The last exported database in your system is current with this problem.
For example: Cory Sullivan, for September 13 in the morning, this player had 110 at bats. In his player card, the one imported from your MLB stats, he appears with 110 PA, but 95 AB. I checked with the official MLB site and the correct stat is 110 AB, not PA.

David Wright, same date: official MLB At bats 466, Player card at bats 399 (466 PA).

And so on with every player I checked.

These stats are before those day games (Wright had 4 AB in the first game and 4 in the second, ended that day with 474 AB).

We have identified the cause of the issue --- our data supplier only gives us At Bats for each player, not Plate Appearances. We tried to calculate Plate Appearances based on the rest of the data (PA = AB + BB + SAC + HBP, etc), but we apparently have a flaw in some cases. We will get this fixed for the next release.
