Fielder's choice on a bunt.

Batter bunts the ball with runner on first. Play is to second for the force. batter makes it to first safely. I'm assuming you have to record it as in play, fielder's choice, where ball was hit and who touched the ball to make the force out at second. Does not record that the ball was bunted though. Because if you record bunt and then the force out at second, it incorrectly awards the batter a hit. Is there another work around that I'm missing?

That is correct - you would enter In Play, Fielder's Choice in this case. There is no statistic to track bunted into fielder's choice, so it is not different than any other fielder's choice. You can add a note saying it was a bunt if you would like to track that.

I don't know what other scorekeepers can, like, are supposed to keep track of when it comes to softball when it comes to the various forms of bunting or slapping. The iscore program keeps track of bunts to get on base (hit), sacrifice bunts, sacrifice bunt with error and bunt for an out at first. The question is do you need to add one or two more choices to "in play". Bunt into Fieder's choice and/or Sacrifice bunt into fielder's choice. (I suppose it doesn't count as a sacrifice bunt if you don't advance the lead runner, so maybe just one more choice could/should be added.)

Which leads to another question for softball scorekeeping. Does anyone track slap hitting? (otherwise known as run and hit) And if so (by using notes I assume,) how important is it. Drag vs standing and bunting?

We will add "Bunt into Fielder's Choice" to our enhancement list for future consideration.
