Subs not showing up on roster

Im in a game and had to go back and add a player to the roster in the middle of the game. When I went back to the game and tapped the position to sub, the player is not listed. I show him as active and I double checked he's in the roster. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Adding a player to a roster will not make him available for a game that you already created. Rosters are the default Lineup when new games are created, but only players in a Lineup are available for a game. To add a player to a Lineup after the game has started, use Misc -> Show Starting Lineup and add the player there. He will then be available as a sub.
