Incorrect Number of PO in game.

Post by CSThunderCoach » Wed Nov 02, 2011 12:00 pm

I have been going over some of the games from the High School season and I have a game that went 10 innings with ITB. There are 30 outs showing on the scorebook, but the fielding stats show 31 PO. That should not be possible.
I think I have narrowed it down to this play:
Runner on 3rd - 2 outs
Batter hits a slow roller back to pitcher. Pitcher goes home with the ball but does not get the runner out. Scored as follows:

In-Play - Fielder's Choice - mark location of ball.
Selected positions 1-2 (I think this may have been the error since there was no actual out recorded - but I want the play & players recorded.)
What happened to runner on 3rd - Safe at Home - Advanced by Batter
Runner on 1st - Held Up.

If you can export your data and email us your customer ID and this same description to support@iscoresports.com, and let us know which game it is, we can look into the issue.

This rings a bell.. Number of put outs larger than expected in situations where scored a fielders choice with no outs (due to or errors on play!. I believe this is an old issue resurfaced but don't have time to find the old thread on this.. But I vaguely recall it.."

Yes it is an old thread. I raiseed this very same question and while memory is also faint (a senior's moment) I believe that the answer from FTM was that on a fielkders choice that when you indicate the players that participated in the play, iScore assumes an out was made when in fact possibly none was. If the runner that the out was attempted on was safe, you can still record it as a FC but do not indicate the defensive players that participated in the play. i stand to be corrected but that is how I remember it.

That is correct, and was the case with CSThunderCoach. When the screen comes up for the Fielder's Choice, it says:

"Touch each position that handled the ball in the order that the play occurred. Only include the positions involved in making the out(s)."

So if no out was made, you should not tap any positions in that case.

this brings up an other question. In the initial question there were 2 outs. If the scorekeeper did record the players involved in the play, would this "out" represent the 3rd out and thus end the inning or would the false out & assist only be recorded in the stats?

Only the false PO and the Assist are recorded in the stats. The inning continued until the "real" 3rd out was made. Not ideal, but now I know.

Thanks.
