iPad Crashes on version 2.85.101

Just reporting that I'm experiencing crashes on the iPad using version 2.85.101.
There are various times when the application either crashes fully, or simply hangs.
Application Hang: During score keeping in many situations including: recording pitches, entering scoring events (base hits, steals, etc.)
Application 'crash': a 'crash' is when the application actually causes the iPad to reboot fully. This is typically when copying games / teams / players from one iPad to another using bluetooth.
The hang is annoying as I must close the app and re-open it. So far no lost data when this happens except for the score keeping event that caused the hang.
The 'crash' is much more annoying as it is a complete re-boot of the iPad.

Hi Coach Carl --- we have not had any reports of this and have many thousands of people using iScore v2.85 regularly on the iPad as well as using it ourselves for scorekeeping. This sounds like it may be caused be low memory conditions on your device. After a complete reboot of the device (holding power button down, sliding the red button to power off, and powering back on), do you still have crashes? Or does that usually fix the issue. If that fixes the issue, our guess would be some application on your device is not freeing memory properly.
Beyond that...
What verion of the iPad OS are you using? Have you upgraded to the latest versions available from Apple? Do you have any steps that will consistently reproduce the issue?

Welcome to the board. Often the hang or crash is caused by memory leaks in the apple system. For me the issues generally occur after a great deal of data is input, i.e. pregame roster adds. To limit the issues I input my roster then reboot pregame. Sometimes late in a game I notice the reaction time to a button is slow which tells me the memory issue is occurring, so again I reboot between innings. The memory leakage is not necessarily Iscore specific it has to do with other things running on your ipad/itouch.
I hope this helps.
Dan

@coachcarl.. Not sure if you are at a place with wifi and internet connection, but myself i have found data sharing by web server vs blue tooth, a better experience. i would encourage you to try sharing by web if you have not already, and then go with which ever is easier and more responsive for you. my bet is web share, but your conditions may vary
also echo the remarks on memory leak..

Thanks all,
I've done a few reboots, and I judiciously close all applications when using iScore and other memory intensive apps. I am well aware of the memory leak issues in this version of iOS and a few other operating systems since I'm a developer.
Version of iScore - 2.85.101
Version of iOS - 4.2.1
I'm not seeing anything similar on the iPhone (I typically score on the iPhone, and transfer to iPad for review as I'm most often coaching or managing the team I'm scoring) so it's isolated to the iPad version from what I can tell.
I'll try to keep track of all the conditions next time I see a crash on the iPad and report back.
BTW - I was just passing along the conditions so they would be known for the next edition.
Thanks again everyone for the reply's

Yep, when crash bugs creep in it helps to get the heads up..
I agree the smaller device is better when in the dugout/on the field and then audit the play by play on the I pad later..
Be curious if the issues go down when using web share vs Bluetooth..
