Statistics didn't update after export?

I just finished my "export", and went into my Admin Site, so I could email Hit Charts to a Team Manager from a Team we played earlier today. The game exported, as i see it listed under the games, but the "Hit Chart" wasn't updated? Do I need to hit 'Re-calc"? I only noticed, because one of their Players showed no hits, or at bats and said Player was 1-2. Wait..... I think things were crossed due to me putting in Player, but NOT as a substitution.... I'll have to fix, but it will be tough. It wasn't Our Team, so I will try to remember. Any help??? They made 3 Player Substitutions.

You can do player substitutions by going to the Pitch by Pitch listing for the game then tapping the Edit button next to Substitutions on the pitch where it should have occurred. You can then make any missed substitutions and the stats will updated automatically.

I tried that, but it only puts them in the fielding position and my Batting Order is still a mess. They Batted 9 and had 3 subs... then the subs came in... I'm thinking about re-entering the game. Is this the only way to fix it? When I put them in, originally, I only did it as a Field replacement, instead of doing a "Player Substitution", which likely would have fixed me from changing the batters every time after the First Substitution. I don't mind re-entering, though I was hoping for an easier fix. Wondering if I "undo" to point just before and then enter them as "Player Substitutions", that it will work correctly, as I originally had the 3 Subs on the bench as "out" and "not batting". Your thoughts...

Most likely do not have to re enter.

b/c sounds like you have a game that bats only 9 and follows standard substitution rules. if so, we can help. ( bigger issue comes when you have a bat all league and want to add a new batter, ie start bat 10, then later, after batting around once, someone wants to add an 11th batter who came late, that is generally when you have to rescore completely)

you can do both offesive and defensive subs after the fact. but you need a starting line up to have more than the number of batters to let you see the "offense/defense" toggle on the edit substitution screen.

So what you need to do is
(I assume on an iphone/itouch, if ipad, same idea, but screen layout bit different)

1) go to the pitch by pitch editor (game manager >select game> pitch by pitch >)

2) Edit the starting Roster ( Select Game Starts > Starting Line Up > Edit > Add Player and add the future subs for both teams home and visitor) be sure and set the bat = flag to NO. You now will have a batter order to sub in and out. ) when done, adding players for bothe teams. exit back to Pitch by Pitch Editor Screen (done, Save, exit etc)

3) Now make the subs (fielding and batting) on the right events... scroll to the right place in the game, select the appropriate events ">", select substitution edit, choose visitor/home, make the subs.. note, you now will see an offense/defense toggle button on top of the screen..

The key on batting subs is to understand the computer program only cares about the 'position' in the batting line up (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th ... batter) not the real name, the computer assigs a hidden code to the position batting and what happened, you can change the real name after the fact to who ever actually hit in that slot.

the computer lets you make free substitutions all day long, it just insists the number of batters stays constant (e.g if you bat 9 to start, you bat 9 all game)

Detailed review and substition edit of pitch by pitch should be faster and easier than rescoreing the whole game. Both options of course assume you can remember who really batted when..

once you have the substitutions correct, the stats and hit charts should all be in synch.

let us know how this turns out. I am confident it can handle your needs.

Thanks! That was pretty easy... I made the correct changes, saved, exit the game, exported. I still noticed on my "Admin site", that the Team Stats for the Team I made changes on, still did not update the "Hit Charts"??? It still showed Player, Zach Allen (Santa Clarita Dynasty) as nothing on "hit Chart", and the Game log shows him not in the Team Batting, along with other 3 others that were part of my Subs edit, yet they are on the Scorecard????

Oh, check your team Roster. it is probably out of synch. and easy to fix.

I did not mention that, (sorry)

quick fix how to...
in pitch by pitch editor, edit the starting line up, choose the option button (bottom right) update team roster from line up. then go re export.

why this happens...
the team web sites (and admin site) use the current team roster in team manager to define who to report out stats and hit charts for at a team at a given point in time. (ie may be different than who was in the game. ie so a player who gets traded is handled correctly).

that should help, keep us posted here.

(by the way, I am not FTM, and have no way to access your specific data, but if we do not get you solved here by forum, I am confident FTM will respond to your email. )

Ok.... Just updated Roster via Game edit... then went to Team Roster to see.... had to delete duplicates that I put in during game NOT as Substitutes... then Exported....
Voila!
It seems to have worked. Is this all due to me not "substituting" them in properly? Do I have to go into Team Rosters on other Teams to verify the Current Roster is correct? Sometimes a player may be missing that Game and still on Roster, though I don't always know that on Teams we are playing. Seems complicated. Why can I not just have Players listed and just show them "out" & "not batting"? This messed up some TEAM DATA, but it may be corrected if I had "substituted" correctly, right?
Just curious, in case it comes up again...
Thanks for all your help!

Having a little trouble understanding the question, but you can definitely have players in the lineup as "out" and "not batting"... that is the recommended way of entering players on the bench.

For a team website, it will show only the players currently on your Team Roster because there are times that a player plays in a game that is not a member of the team, and you would not want him permanently on the Team Website as a member of the team (i.e. some leagues allow pool players when your team is short, but you do not want that player to now be a permanent member of the team, so you do not add him to the Team roster).

The only time a Roster player should not be in the Lineup is if they don't show up to that day's game. The Lineup for a game should include everyone that is eligible to play that day even if they never come into the game (in which case "Out" for defensive position and Batting=NO would be used). If they are subbed in during the game, you would not change the starting lineup, you would just substitute the player in, and the statistics are updated automatically.

To close off on this for those reading. Fundamentally this was about proper substitution, not an issue with iscore exporting and updateing

Stadtusquo -

Yes, the cause of the problems was miss understanding of proper iScore substitution mechanics. That said, I am more than confident with this experience and better go forward understanding of “iScore expectations/mechanics” -- you will find it very workable, not redundant and not have the same issue again

to those further reading this thread, I will reiterate my overarching recommendation to review the online video tutorials on substitution, they can be very helpful. But also thought I would take a few minutes and download some of my understanding of iScore Logic that may be helpful for all go forward..…. so here goes.... hope it helps..

Team Roster > Game Line Up > Substitution Screen (offense/defense)
To effectively use iScore, one should understand the relationship between and differences in “Team Roster” (accessed by ‘team manager’) and “Game Line Up” (accessed by ‘game manager’) and Substitution Screen ( access by tapping a batter/fielder icon ) are all related but very different. (specifically, realize Roster and Line Up are different)

NEW GAME: Team Roster > Game Line Up
When you start a ‘new game’, the system automatically sets the “Starting Line Up” based on the 'Team Roster' at that one moment in time they are the same, but not for long. You are then free to change either one after that, and a change in one does not (and should not) automatically update the other.

This independence lets you add or remove players from your "Team Roster" over the course of the season and not impact past games (ie player departures, additions, trades etc)... It also lets you add, remove or hold out a player for any specific game in the "game line up" (eg one time pick up player, injury, absentees etc) that do not and should not impact your overall "team roster" .

Game Line up > Team Roster
special note: you can update a Team Roster to mirror a specific ‘Game Roster’, at anytime, by going to pitch by pitch editor, choose edit starting line up event, pick your team home/visitor), then choose option button (lower right), and select “copy line up to roster”. This is a good habit to get into after a game with a new opponent team whose roster you may be creating on the fly or using quick roster.

Game Line Up > Substitution Screen
To be available for substitution, you need to first be in the “game line up” (makes sense, if not in line up, not available for substitution). If the player is not in the initial starting ‘game line up’ (as copied from ‘Team Roster’) you can manually add them at anytime - before, during or after a game. If you know them before the game, enter them when prompted, (be sure to set the bat flag to no to be a “sub”) , during a game, you can always add new or pre existing players in player manager, to the ‘game line up’ by misc > show starting line up> add player (new or existing). after the game, you can even add players to the ‘game line up’ by pitch by pitch editor, editing the starting line up event, chosing your team etc.. (again, bench players need to have bat flag =no to be a sub)

Caution - Critical Importance of Getting the Number Batting Right
You can make substitutions anytime, but you can not change the number of batters batting after you have batted around (ie bat 9, bat 10 etc). with iScore, it is very very critical to understand the importance of getting the number of batters (bat=yes) correct in both "game line ups" before you "bat around". once you bat around the order once, the order "locks" and you are 'stuck'. (In your specific case this was not an issue. but If you only had 8 players with bat =yes in starting line up, and had batted around and wanted to add a 9th batter later, then you would be in trouble and forced to rescore to correct). that said, once you know the importance of getting the number of batters right in the starting line up (players set to bat = yes), ... relax and realize any missed substitution can be corrected without total rescoring.. by either a) misc show starting line up), b) standard substitution screen (tap on fielder or batter)) or c) after the fact via pitch by pitch editor .

Standard Substitutions
Once in the ‘game line up’, you are available and visible on the “substitution screen” (offense or defense). You always have free defensive fielding substitution, (tap on a fielder icon to bring up standard substitution screen). However, as you already noticed, you only get batting subs (tap on batter) when you have non batting players (bat =no) in the game line up available on the bench. (makes sense when you think about it) . you can make substitutions during or after a game using pitch by pitch editor.

Again, if you did not know the sub before the game, you can add them any time to “game line up” with bat flag=no. then they will appear on standard substitution screen.

Again the logic flow is
Team Roster (via Team Manager)> Game Line Up (via Game Manager)> Substitution Screen (offense/defense) (by tapping fielder, runner or batter icon)

hope this helps..
