Error on Export

Post by brentwalker » Fri Oct 01, 2010 6:56 pm

I am trying to export my database but I get an error, database cannot be exported? What does that mean and why would it not export. We have a big showcase tournament tomorrow and I would like to be able to add the teams from iscorecentral and then import. But it has been a while since I exported and I have too much data to throw it away.

We have heard that the iPhone / iPad auto-lock feature can cause the exports to fail. We actually disable auto-lock during export starting with the patch we submitted today (v2.81), but with any version 2.80 and prior, you can either make sure you occasionally touch the screen during export to keep your device from going into auto-lock, or you can set the auto-lock to a larger timeout in the Settings screen of your device.

Tried the touch the screen method and after 3 minutes it crashed. Setting autolock to "never"

Thank you setting it to never worked. Was able to enter in teams and not about to import them back.

Great, glad that worked.... the patch will disable the auto-lock during export and you will not have to do that any more after that update.

TIP

For those reading,

with v2.8 or earlier, if you have a large database with a number of games scored, and get export unsuccessful message.... Here is how to troubleshoot ...

The number one issue to check is still Internet connectivity,
but if you have a good connection, change the base general settings of your device (settings, general, auto lock) to 5mins or never.

Why? When the screen goes to sleep, it can interrupt the export. In prior versions you could baby sit the export and tap the screen periodically to keep the unit awake while the transfer happened In The background. With v 2.8 ftm added a more prominent message that export was in process, but that prevented the tap of screen to keep active (if not mutli tasking). That is why with 2.8 taping screen does not work and need to adjust auto lock setting...

Again, this is a temporary issue/ solve till v2.81 comes out..when it does don't forget to re set auto lock back to normal to save battery life..
