Are put-outs and assists being recorded correctly?

I'm just getting started. I noticed in our first game the 1st baseman was credited with 13 put-outs. When I reviewed the scoresheet I found the program recorded a put-out for him every time he caught a ground ball out at 1st. Shouldn't those be recorded as assists?

The first baseman is the one actually putting out the runner at first. The assist goes to the fielder making the throw to the fielder putting out the runner. Put outs are also given to the catcher for strikeouts.

Thanks for clarifying. I'm surprised that's how they score it. It seems like the 1st baseman and the catcher have the easy jobs.

iScore is following MLB rules / scoring protocal to provide a consistent approach.
MLB has specific rules for who gets credit for assits and putouts.. so far catcher and first have been found to be consistent with MLB standard methods.
