adding players to lineup during game

At a 12U softball game yesterday, the other team kept making last minute changes to the lineup after the game had started (i.e. Susie was on the lineup and didn't show up, but Mary wasn't on the lineup and did show up, so she is going to bat last.) In the past when this has happened I adjusted the starting lineup from the game screen and everything worked fine. Yesterday, however, iscore added the new batter in the lineup, but skipped her in the bat order. I know I have had this same situation in the past and iscore corrected the batters after the fact. This time I could not get it to work. Bascially to keep scoring the game I had to substitute each batter until I got back to the end and then it was right again. After the game I tried to correct using pitch by pitch and substituting the new batter where iscore had skipped her, but I could not figure out how to do it. To clean up the score card and fix the stats, afterwards I just recreated the game and deleted the first one. Any thoughts?

You can add players to the end of the lineup (or to any position in the lineup that has not yet batted) by going to Misc->Show Starting Lineup and adding players there. Once a batting position has batted, you can not "insert" a player in the order because iScore stores the data by batting lineup position. This allows you to go in after the game and make substitutions / modify the lineup to get things correct without effecting statistics. As long as you have scored all the at bats in the correct order, you should be able to either edit the starting lineup, or make the appropriate substitutions to get the girls in the right batting positions.

I agree, and that's what I have done in the past, but it did not work this time. Not sure what was different. Maybe I tried adding the last batter after iscore was already showing the first batter at the plate. I thought that changing the initial lineup would in fact change the batter at the plate but it did not. Hopefully this won't happen again when it matters. It is primarily a rec league problem (adding players at the last minute) and should not be an issue once I start scoring travel games. Scoring fall rec has essentially been practice for travel ball which starts tournaments in a few weeks. Thanks for the reply.

it is very critical to iscore to get the number of batters batting (9,10,11,12 etc) correct before you cycle back to top of the order. Iscore just needs that to locked in. we can workaround and fix a number of things after the fact , but that is not one of them.

that said, on occasion when i have been suspect that a late arrival may happen, i have created a phantom player or two , (e.g., player 11 and 12 w/ batting = yes), and when they came up to bat, just skipped them if a no show w/ no out, unless some one had shown up to claim a slot. this obviously is a pain and takes extra effort, but in a bind it can help.
