Why does the app give a RBI to player who reached on a error. A RBI should not be give for that

I thought I noticed when I tried to care about it, that when a runner scores after the batter reaches on error, if I said the runner reached home because they were "advanced by batter" then iscore gives the batter a RBI even if it isn't supposed to. If on the other hand I say the runner reached home and "held up" then no RBI is awarded. Have not really paid much attention to that in quite a while though and I'm not sure if that is what you were actually asking about. It is sort of intuitively confusing because even if the batter reaches base by error, the runners ahead of them are still "advanced by the batter".

A batter can receive an RBI when they reach on Error... as an example, a runner on third, ground ball to second baseman, runner was breaking for home, and second baseman throws to first... bad throw to first or overthrown, whatever. Batter still gets an RBI. As ixamnis noted, using Advanced by Batter is the cue to iScore that it should be an RBI. If an RBI should not be awarded for some reason, you would choose Held Up or On the Throw or some other reason for the runner advancing. An Error is not always a reason to not give an RBI however.

So for example if there is a runner on 3rd and someone hits a flyball to the second baseman and he drops it and the run scores and I put advanced by better the app would give a RBI for that? If I would do any other option it would not ?

Yes, in that case, you would use In Play, Error, select 2B for the error, it will ask what happened to the runner on third, select Safe, Home, Same Error as the option. The batter is not given an RBI for that. Same scenario but a ground ball, you would likely give Advanced by Batter as the reason for being safe at home because the runner on third likely would have scored regardless, and the batter DOES get an RBI in that case.

I would add

the 'advance by button ( by runner, on throw, same error, etc) ' can be edited after a game in pitch by pitch editor and 'tweak' to refine RBI stats of so inclined .

. In addition a note can be added to any play real time or after in editor to help remind/clarify the scoring question or decision .
