Data sharing, character encoding

Post by milank » Sun Nov 16, 2014 12:47 pm

I am running iScore for baseball on VMware workstation (W7, Android Kitkat).
It is running fine, only player and game names get broken after import, namely East EU national (Latin2, Win1250) characters.
When created in device, it is fine, however, if imported from admin website by data sharing, they get broken.

We do not officially support iScore running on VMWare. If Google starts supporting that configuration officially and makes the Google Play store available in that configuration (meaning they have tested and approved usage and purchases of apps in that environment), then we will support it as well. In the meantime, there can be too many "one-off" issues as a result of the environment that we do not have the resources to support it.

Thank you, no problem with that, anyway.
Seems like it runs fine in routine use, and there are some workarounds regarding EE characters possible.
Though I believe there is a great potencial of this app in virtual environment.

Finally, this turned out to be an issue, visible when using data sharing between two Android devices. Would you please look at this? I can provide you with more details, screenshots etc.

If you email the customer ID that you are trying to retrieve data from, and which game or team you are trying to transfer to support@iscoresports.com, we can take a look and see what we find.

Is there any problem with the support?
The issue described above is easily reproducible (data sharing or discovery).
Again, if you need more details, like the local DB, feel free to ask.

There should not be any problem with support. If you are still having this issue, then please try emailing support@iscoresports.com with the details again and we will take a look at the issue.

I am sorry for being so pushy, but now we have again several days without any reply.
Did you receive it? It might be problem on your mail server...
If this case, this is the email I have sent to the address you specified:

"if I try to "Get from web" or "Discover" and import team named "Radotín Ženy A" from the device with ID specified, the player and team names get broken.
The roster has been prepared by batch operation at iScorecentral.com.
Import and Export is without any issue.
Apparently, one of the conversion routines is not able to handle unicode encoding.
This issue is reproducible with several devices here device running Android (Kit Kat). I did not try iOS.
If needed, I can send you some screenshots showing the broken characters."

It would be really nice if you could look at the issue. Now, it is been already confirmed by several users, running both Android and iOS.
Thank you in advance.
