I do not work for Iscore so take this in that light.. I also am an iOS guy.
as a third party observer, kindle seems to
Frequently have issues that reportedly stem from repeated non-standard android implementation. I can't prove this first hand but sounds like Developers are stuck between rock and hard place on the non standard implementations. Kindle may be the probl here more than android or Iscore
Also note The large competitor to Iscore dropped android altogether.

Having multiple Android hardware devices to get your app to work on does pose a challenge. But there are plenty of perfectly functioning applications on the Android platform. I think arguing that the Android platform is not viable because of its diversity is not a valid argument. My feeling is that developers just need to get better at writing applications for Android.OhioTex wrote:I do not work for iScore so take this in that light. I also am an iOS guy. I have not used the iOS version, so I can't compare it to the Android version. But in my experience, on very inexpensive hardware (a Kindle Fire 7), the app runs fine, apart from the occasional crash. The bug mentioned in this thread in particular really has nothing to do with Android vs. iOS. It has to do with a bug that has been around for over a year (at least) and not been addressed.
I also don't know that Kindle devices are any more "non-standard" than any other Android devices. They do run their own version of Android, but I am running Cyanogenmod on mine and it works fine. It's arguably more "standard" than versions of Android running on other devices since it's based on the open source base of Android.
I also understand that software companies have to write software for markets where they have the best chance to make money. iScore obviously believes that is iOS, since they are targeting their new "pay" model to iOS first. I suspect Android will follow eventually. I just prefer Android for its value, and I hope iScore continues to support and invest in the platform.
I wasn't aware of that, but there may be other reasons for that as well, that we don't know. Also note The large competitor to iScore dropped Android altogether.
Thanks for the thoughts. Good discussion.

Agree with Brian's thoughts above. Just for the record: I use both an LG 7" tablet and at Motorola Moto X Pure phone for my iScore needs. They both work well.

I am not a developer ... I was not arqueing against android. I am happy android is supported by Iscore Baseball
.. What I was saying is a few facts i have observed over the years on this forum...
For what ever underlying technical reasons, the kindle fire has repeatedly shown up in this forum with issues that reportedly turn out to be unique to kindle, things work on all other android devices yet kindle has a quirk. Not justifying or saying why. Just an observation .
We do know The reason the competitor dropped b/c was stated by their president in letter to users . Suport costs and variations in android platform. I thought a poor decision too but that was their statement.
The android product seems to work well for most users . I don't have statistically valid numbers, but In this forum , i do not sense more or less bug reports for either platform .android or iOS. Tablet or phone. Just the kindle anomaly
Both products have roughly the same features, sometimes android app gets new features before iOS and sometimes after ..
