Thanks for the tip of optimizing. I just completed that, however I will not be scoring any actual games until next weekend. I just created a test game and scoring seemed to be normal.

My issue may have been the need to optimize - my database is about 17mb with 100 games scored.

I use the iscorecast feature, so airplane mode would not be possible for actual game scoring.

I am seeing this issue on an iPad 3 with OS6 also. The symptoms are like you have described with things getting progressively slower as the games go along. I end up rebooting my iPad after about 4 innings. That is when the delay between button presses begins to get the most noticeable and starts to interfere with scoring the game.

I have tried killing the app and restarting it. I have tried the optimize/import of the database trick. These did not work. However, I have also noticed some other app slowdowns as well. For me, it is the Mail app that gets slow. It can take forever to switch between emails or email accounts. As with iScore, only a reboot of the device fixes the issue with Mail. I think this has to be an Apple issue. Hopefully they are able to address this soon.

We are 95% sure it is an Apple issue at this point. For long time iScore users, you may remember an issue when iOS 4.0 first came out where iScore was crashing randomly. It wasn't until the following release of iOS that these issues started to go away. We are hopeful that Apple creates a follow up release very soon.

I understand that this appears to be an Apple issue, but wanted to add my data to the heap. iPad3 (wifi only), iOS6.0, iScore 3.53.106. I don't notice any other apps slowing down, but then I don't think I've been in a time-critical mode to care. I've noticed scoring slowing down, and likely timed to iOS 6 upgrade. I also noticed that the app seems to pop out back to the home apps page from time-to-time.

I've rebooted, closed all other apps, and no network connection. Scored 5 games this weekend, first three on Saturday were speedy. First one on Sunday was speedy also. Second one, too slow to keep up with the action by the 4th inning. I was wondering if recording pitch locations was slowing it down or having 40 games for 5 leagues in there was bogging it down, but hearing others with far more makes me doubt that. I optimized my database -- took about 200k out of a 5MB database, so maybe that will help a little. Won't be scoring more until this weekend.

I don't suppose there's anything that can be identified and relayed to Apple to speed up a fix?

We did see that Apple is planning a 6.0.1 release very soon.

We are also trying to come up with workarounds to help with the slowdown. We did experience it on one device this weekend, so are hopeful we will be able to repeat it and come up with a fix.

We also found that Apple changed a core event flow in iOS6 (eliminated the call to viewDidUnload for any tech folks out there), and we relied on this in some cases. It is very unusual for an operating system maker to change core event flow as they have done, and we are trying to come up with a workaround for this.

to those reading along and experiencing this problem, My hope is you will hang in there. As a Long time user, I wanted to weigh in and encourage you to not give up on iscore and FTM. There have been speed bumps in the past with iOS updates, and apple code - and FTM has always stepped up to solve in time. As an iscore user this stinks, (and luckily not the main season) it may be untenable, to hard reset after third inning.. but for now that seems to be the solve. i know the FTM folks will work hard to fix it if they can and just wanted to weigh in with my support and appreciate all those in the community on this post who have helped confirm the issue and keep an up beat tone. (much different than i see on other boards). the helpful nature of this community is one of the value adds for the product and reason i keep coming back. thanks to all. /ohioTex

Hi - First post here.

I started using iScore about 5 months ago. Have scored about 40-50 games and really love it. Gives me something to do on those long hot So Cal days.

re this issue. I too have seen this issue. I tried rebooting my iPad 3 (with iOS6) and did not have any luck with it.

I have found one thing that helps. If I start seeing the slowdown happen, I will exit the game completely, then Kill the app. Restart the app, and rejoin the game (no loss of stats). That usually solves the slowdown issue for a game. I close out the app between games to give myself the best chance of avoiding this issue.

Hope this helps.

I scored 4 games this past weekend. The slow play entry persisted and I had to reboot each game. Luckily no more games until next spring. Hopefully Apple works out the bugs in the next iOS update.

This post gives the step by step for the best way to restart and get things back to normal:

Again, we are hopeful that Apple's next update addresses the issue, and we are trying to do some things from our side to help as well.
