Support has a long standing track record of being very responsive .... Perhaps provide your email @extension so they scan for it.. And see if spam triggers at work.,

Also This thread originally started as a VMware ... is this still true? Or are we talking about straight android device or iOS device issue

This issue has nothing to do with VMWare any longer.
It has been discovered in that environment but it has been reproduced with plain devices.
I have just sent out the PM.

coming back to the topic - it seems to be fixed nearly anywhere, except:

Android: discover via device ID - team name (still broken national characters)
In iOS, the only issue seen now is the team name in the inning table on scoring screen, again broken characters.
No broken characters appear during preceeding steps (team manager, game manager), therefore likely app issue.
