I was concerned about battery life yesterday. I got up early and left the house, knowing I would not get the chance to charge my iPhone 3G before going to the Texas Rangers game last night. I decided to do a couple of things to conserve battery during the day. I shut off WiFi and 3G. I was going to be in a town with little or no 3G coverage and no WiFi, so it was an easy decision to shut it off. I kept Bluetooth on because I needed it for my car.
At the game, I initially kept the screen active all the time. Then as the battery began to drain, I got worried and started blanking it after every pitch and between innings. For some batters, I would wait for two pitches before I went in to score.
The result? After using the phone all day and scoring a 3+ hour major league baseball game pitch by pitch, I still had plenty of battery for the drive home and scorebook review before hitting the sack.

Re: Battery Life
One of the developers tried scoring a game today with the screen brightness turned up to about 7/8 and it made a huge difference in battery life. Where he could normally score two games on one charge he was only able to score one. Typically we keep our screen brightness at about 1/3. Of course you'll have to make adjustments based on whether or not you are in bright sunlight but even at 1/2 brightness it seems to work well for day games and should help a lot in extending the battery life

Re: Battery Life
UPDATE:
I turned OFF gamecast as well as dimmed the screen and that has made a huge difference in the battery life. I can now score at least 3 games without a recharge.

Re: Battery Life
With the upcoming release of v1.70 (or 2.00 if we decide to call it that), if you enable iScorecast or use Twittercast frequently, it will use more battery.
We have struck a deal with a company called iPWR to offer their external battery which is compatible with the iPhone 3G, 3GS, and iPod Touch (as well as any iPod) for a special price.
You can find more information on this external battery on our website here:
