Hello... was scoring game this afternoon, ASAP vs Michigan Bulldogs (Monday afternoon), and 2 things happened.
First:
While scoring game, maybe 2nd or third inning, I tried to change a defensive player by tapping on position.... nothing happened. Tapped again... nothing.... had to hit undo to allow for substitution. Weird
Second:
While scoring same game, I was scoring a play and noticed, while bases were loaded, that the second base "square/icon" was completely gone? Once I finished scoring play, it came back. I thought I messed up previous play and went back to see, but it was there and then disappeared at same point.
NOTE: I reset my iPhone (3g) earlier that morning, to clear any memory issues.

Exported, successfully (though many attempts on Sunday). I export after every completed game,
or have done so for last month or so.

Re: Base & Runner not showing AND can't change player in field
Both of these things definitely sound like memory related issues. You say you reset earlier that morning, but since the reset, had you used Mail, Safari, and/or iTunes on the device? All three of these built in applications leave a large memory footprint when they are run, even after closing them. The "3G" device is also quite low on memory compared to the "3GS" to start with, so memory issues will occur more frequently on that device.
If this is something that you can get to consistently happen, we would like to take a look at it. If you have a set of steps that will consistently cause the issue to occur, we should be able to reproduce it. If not, then it is likely a memory issue.
Thank you.
