IScore not assigning Earned runs to pitcher Glitch - HELP

Post by OxfordWildcatsBlue » Fri Feb 20, 2015 6:45 am

I have the scoring below for our top of 5th. The way I see it is that the pitcher should have 3 or the 4 runs allowed be earned run. The first runner to reach base was on a throwing error 4-3. He comes around to score on a triple, and I get that he is not earned. However, after 1 strike out, then a walk, then another strike out the wheels come off. Between walks, HBP and base hits, the other team scores 3 more, which should be earned in my opinion.

I think that IScore somehow considers that the first batter should have been out without the error and as such anything that happened after the second strike out 'would' not have happened.

Is this the correct way to score it?

That is correct. Everything after the second strikeout would be unearned because it should have been the third out.

I will echo support but with some added commentary

The official scorers practice in determining earned/unearned runs incolves a virtual 'recreate the inning' assuming errorless play. That is the standard rule, and also subject to human error particularly when an inning involves multiple pitchers.

But Iscore , the program, does a pretty darn good job and is consistent . ( scenrio as desctibed below, would appear iscore treated correctly).

There are some unigue scenerios that iscore cant catch and have to be manually over written if you need a 'perfect book', but they are not frequent and for most of us iscore defailt rules work well ( and are consistently applied,).
