ERA calculation

Post by hehner22 » Mon May 05, 2014 5:21 am

Hi All,

I had a question with regards to the calculation of a players ERA.
I had a pitcher start an inning, and walk 3 straight batters without retiring a batter. He was then substituted for. All three of those runners subsequently scored. The stats correctly show this.

When I do a stat calc for this player, it shows his runs against as "inf",his era as "inf" and his era9 as "inf". This is how it displays the stats on my phone. However, when I email the stats, the value for these fields changes to 0.00

I assume this has to do with the fact that his innings pitched is "0" since he did not retire a batter but I don't think it should convert the "inf" value to "0" when emailing the stats. Am I missing something here?

As soon as that pitcher gets an out, his ERA will be updated properly. Until he gets an out, his ERA is "infinity". We will look into making the emails show that in a future update as well.
