importing stats

Post by Afjb » Tue Jul 09, 2013 6:02 am

Hi, I am trying to import previous stats into iScore using the method described on your web site. I select the CSV file and it does populate most of the fields correctly, which is fine. I assign the proper player for the stat line and click on import data. When I look at the game results there is an entry for "season stats" however the stats are not correct. In many cases the at bat column is a negative number. Also, when I go to my device (iPad - I am running the latest version) and choose import, the season stats do no get imported into the team.

I have already emailed my ID and the team name in question to the support email, but thought I would post here in case there are others who have had this issue and found a solution.

Thanks very much.

The CSV import is not intended for "self made" CSV files right now. There are certain formats that we currently work with. At some point we will document how to import from "self made" CSVs. We will respond directly to your emails however.

Thanks. Your support is excellent. Do you have any suggestions for entering stats from previous games so we can incorporate those into your iScore program? I don't have any play by play of previous games, just the basic box score types of stats...at bats, runs, hits, etc.

The suggested way of doing it for now is to create a dummy game, enter one pitch for each pitcher that you have stats for, then end the game. View the stats for the game, and you can tap any value to override it with the numbers you have. The game counts will be off, but you will get the stats into the system other than that.

OK, let's say I have two games worth of stats to enter, but I don't have the hitting stats broken down by game, it's only cumulative. So should I do one game of 18 innings with all pitching stats or two games of 9 innings each but not having each game scored individually?

EDIT: I tried doing a dummy game with cumulative stats but there are a couple of your columns I can't edit, namely the At Bats with runners in scoring position in the hitting chart, innings pitched in the pitching chart and errors in the fielding chart. Are there ways for us to edit those columns or do you have other suggestions?

The bold face fields are calculated from other fields. At Bats is equally to plate appearances minus hits and outs. Error equals throwing + fielding errors. Etc.

The following link shows all the calculations:

OK, thanks. I'll keep working on it and let everyone know how it goes. Do you have a timeframe on when our own CSV files might be able to work?

OK, I was able to input the stats I had and everything seemed to add up and work fine. Thanks very much! Can you post a similar link to the football and basketball stats so we can see what formulas are calculated there as well?

Also, a very MINOR suggestion. I use a Bluetooth keyboard for a lot of data entry. In addition to being able to tap on a number to enter your own stats, can you also set it up so we can use the tab key on the keyboard? If it's too much of a hassle to program that, then that's OK.

Thanks again

We donor have a timeframe on when custom CSVs may be available.

For the other sports, use the same URL but change "baseball2" to "football" or "basketball" (no 2 on these sports).
