Scoring issue
Scoring issue
The program wont let you edit a play after you have moved on. If you go to the edit portion, and hit edit on the play you want. All it gives you is the play that you did. If you want to make a change, the buttons to make a change don't work. using the undue button means you have to re-enter everything again. The edit button should work as advertised. It does for player position change, but not for editing the game itself.
Re: Scoring issue
I think you need to review pitch by pitch editing because I have changed previous plays like changing an error to a hit alot.
Re: Scoring issue
Yes it is possible to change a hit to an error. However you can't change safe to out, or vise versa. Or if you had a runner advance, have him go back and held up on base.
I'm familiar with pitch by pitch it doesn't let you make all the changers.

Re: Scoring issue
That is correct. You can not change safe to out as you would then have 4 outs in the inning. As long as you get safe vs out and the bases runners are on correct while scoring, then you can make any edits you like.

Re: Scoring issue
Can't that be fixed? You should be able to edit, and it will correct. When you're entering data after the game or even during the game and make one mistake you should be able to easily correct.FTMSupport wrote:That is correct. Tour not adding an out. If there were three outs the inning is over. The problem is going from out to safe, or if the run didn't score, but was entered as scored. Should be a way to put the runner back on base.
Re: Scoring issue
There are a TON of threads covering this topic. Most stating exactly what you are asking for. If you read thru some of these, hopefully you will come away with a better of understanding of why being able to edit anything and everything isn't possible.

Re: Scoring issue
To say it can't be done is not acceptable. It's an easy fix that they need to do. The program allows you to edit a pitcher, and keep track of the pitches after the fact. It should allow you to switch anything else up as well.
Why can't this be fixed?

Sorry its unacceptable to you.restling wrote:To say it can't be done is not acceptable. It's an easy fix that they need to do. The program allows you to edit a pitcher, and keep track of the pitches after the fact. It should allow you to switch anything else up as well.

Saying it's easy is easy, but that doesn't make it so...
As stated, there are lots of threads discussing why certain things can't be done. I would encourage you to read thru these threads.

Re: Scoring issue
We appreciate everyone's comments and feedback, and respect everyone's opinions.
Basketball does not have the same dependencies that baseball has. Missing a basket that was scored or removing a basket that was scored 5 minutes ago does not have a ripple effect throughout the game as it does in baseball.
If we allow free-form edits to be made, then we would lose the integrity of the scorekeeping and would not be able to calculate stats the way we can when the game is scored in a continuous fashion.
If we allowed editing an OUT to be SAFE, you would wind up with fewer outs in the inning and could potentially wind up with many more issues (what happens if the next batter gets a hit? what do we do with the base runner that is now on base that was not there before?).
If we allowed editing SAFE to be an OUT, then you wind up with more outs in the inning. What if you entered that player as scoring two plays later but now he is OUT? What if you had entered a double play on the following play, but now the player was already out and the double play was no longer possible?
There are an infinite number of issues that could be introduced by allowing free form edits and it would make the statistics unreliable.
We understand the frustration of not being able to edit your mistakes in any way you like. We do allow stat overrides to get statistics right. And you can add notes to plays.
As long as you get the base that the runners wind up at correct while scoring (and mark the players that are SAFE as SAFE and the players that are OUT as OUT), you can make any edits to enter the reasons this occurred.
As we have indicated before, we will continue working to increase the number of post game edits that can be made, but we are never going to make it a free-form scratch pad or there is no way that statistics could be generated from the data.
