Player Card - Games Started Incorrect

Post by Egghead_#8 » Tue Aug 28, 2012 4:00 am

On the individual Player Card, the count for Games Started is incorrect (IMO) as it appears to be including games that haven't been played yet but are scheduled in iScore. I try to schedule the upcoming week's games to save me time since I know already the team's (HS softball in this case) schedule. The team roster has the regular starters already setup in a partial batting order in order to save me some time in the pre-game rush to enter the lineups. The Games Started column is counting these pre-scheduled games as a Start.

For example:
Team X has played 8 games and has 2 scheduled for this week (already created in iScore)
Player 1 is the starting CF and bats lead-off every game and has played every game thus far
Her Player Card Shows:
Player 1:
Games Started at CF: 10
Games Played at CF: 8

Correct, it counts the games scheduled. This is one of several reasons I determined its better to just create the game at the time of the game. FTM recommends this approach as well.

Agreed that starting game at the time of the game would resolve the problem but I still see this as a defect in the reporting of the stats. If the game has not yet begun then it's not a start yet. Only games that have been completed should be included (or at the least games that have actually started).

Also due to the fact that the iScoreViewer does NOT allow for a League view but rather shows ALL games scored on the particular device (I use my iPad for our HS team as well as travel team so ALL games show), I create the games before hand, when possible, so that I can give a direct link to the iScoreViewer on our website. It's a convenience for me and for our fans. Since a HS team has it's schedule about 90% set (barring special tournaments) I can create a chart of our upcoming games that week and provide a direct link to the viewer for each game. Fans can then go to our main page and just click the game link to see the specific game viewer.

Not knocking the app because I love it and it's use is pretty easy (still learning it) and very beneficial for our fans that can't attend any particular game. Just pointing out what I see as a flaw in the stats computation.

I take it the android app does not keep track of games started? I don't see that stat on my players.

The Game Started is included on the Emailed Player Card. That is what Egghead is referring to. Android has this as well.

We will look into having the emailed player card not show games that have not yet been scored.
