Only 1 batter listed

Post by tomv » Sat Jun 11, 2011 8:33 am

I just tried to score my first game. I had previously entered my team and roster online and imported it to my iPad(1). When I got to the field this morning, I entered the visiting team and roster. All players were marked as batting. When I tried to start the game, I got an error stating that I needed to have at least one batter on each team. I verified that all were marked as batting. Somehow I got around the error and started the game. My team showed up OK, but the visitors only showed one batter. I couldn't get more to show in their lineup. I then tried the Quick Roster option and ended up with 20 players (10 that I entered and 10 generic). All 20 were marked as batting, yet only my first entry for the visiting team would show up in the lineup. So, I ended up scoring the game with only one batter for the visitors. Where did I go wrong? I have three games to score tomorrow, so I'm hoping I can get this corrected by then. Thanks in advance for your help.

It sounds like maybe you created the game before you had created the whole opposing team roster?

When you create a game, iScore will take the current ROSTER for each team, and make it the default LINEUP for the game. From that point on for a game, roster changes to not update LINEUPs. This is by design as each game can have their own LINEUP, and you would not want changes to the team roster to suddenly effect the LINEUPs of each game you have created.

So be sure to create your teams with their rosters before creating the games. If you create a game before you know the roster, you can use Quick Roster and change the players names during the game. Otherwise you can make edits directly in the lineup while scoring a game, then from the lineup screen, use the Options, Copy Lineup -> Roster option to copy your lineup changes back to the team roster as well.

I didn't start the game until I had entered 10 names to the team's roster. When the game started, only the first name that I had entered was in their lineup.

I just tried to start a new game just to see what I would get for a lineup using the same two teams as this morning. This time I got all 20 players for the visitors (I hadn't removed the generic players yet). So, maybe your suggestion was correct. I may have inadvertently hit start a game before I realized it.

With regard to being able to change your lineup after starting a game I have two questions:

1. Suppose a player comes late to a game. Initially you remove him from the lineup but he shows up after the game has started. How do you get him into the lineup?

2. In a game I was scoring, I had the 5th batter in the no. 8 position. After the game started, I realized my error. Was there any way to correct this, or do I simply carry on and can I edit the game after it's over to correct the problem (i.e. give the 5th batters stats to 8, 6th to 5, 7th to 6, and 8th to 7)?

For #1, just go to Misc -> Show Starting Lineup, and add the player back into the lineup with Batting = NO, and sub him in whenever it is appropriate.

For #2, you can use Misc -> Show Starting Lineup to rearrange the starting lineup even after the game starts. Just realize that the stats will all be updated to reflect the batters by batting position. Do NOT use this for substitutions as it will always go back to the beginning of the game.
