Offensive Defensive Substitution

Post by morley13 » Mon Mar 28, 2011 4:23 pm

I have used iScore for two tournaments on an ipod and have a question going back after a game is over and making substitutions. In about half of the seven games I have scored when I go back to the Pitch by Pitch screen and click to try to make a sub, the opponent’s line-up appears but the buttons for toggling between offense and defense is not on the top bar. It is there for every game for our team. I have tried to look at differences between those instances where they appear and don’t appear, but can see any.

Any idea as to what is going on?

Thanks

It is there.. Try this and report back if your screen does not have (include device type and software version number if that is the case)

Game manager> select game > pitch by pitch > tap an event..(white > symbol)

Example 1 - game starts
Game starts > tap edit starting line up ... Bottom of screen has the home/visitor toggle

Exampe 2 - all other events
Tap event > tap edit substitution > visitor / home toggle

Hope that helps...let us know if not..

I had tried both of the examples you gave. The problem is in Example 2. Once I tap Home or Visitor and the next screen comes up (the one that shows the line up and the field positions for the defense and the bench for offense), if it is our team that I selected I see the Offense/Defense toggle at the top of the screen between the "Cancel" and "Save" buttons. However, if I select the opponents screen the Offense/Defense toggle button is not there. Hope I am explaining this clearly. It's weird to me because for some of the games, it is there for both our team and the opponent and for other games it's just there for our team.

I have an older ipod and I am not sure which software you are referring to when you asked for a version number. The iScore version I have is 3.09.141.

Thanks

The Offense / Defense toggle button will only show if there is at least one player set to Batting = NO for the team. If you have all players for a team set to Batting = YES, then only defensive substitutions can be made (there would be no offensive substitutions because everyone is already in the batting lineup).

If you want to add an extra player to the team with Batting = NO so you can make an offensive substitution, go to the Pitch by Pitch editing, and tap the Game Starts event, then Edit next to Starting Lineup. You can add players to the starting lineup there. Create one with Batting = NO, and you will then be able to substitute that player in for another Offensive player in the game.

My bad, I miss read the initial post, thought you missed seeing the home/visitor toggle.. Not offense/defense toggle..

What is going on is what FTM said, if bat all players = yes, then no offensive screen (batting subs not enabled b/c everyone already bats and the assumption is they remain in the same line up spot/ order the whole game)
