RBI not counted on ground out

Post by peterl » Mon Nov 08, 2010 2:41 pm

A recent game seemed to miss an RBI. Here's the sitch:

Runner on 3rd, batter hits a ground ball to SS. SS throws to first, and puts the batter out. Runner on 3rd makes it home.

I believe that I scored this as: out, medium grounder to SS, 6-3, runner on 3rd safe at home on the throw. Pitch-by-pitch says: "batter grounds out on the throw shortstop to first baseman", "runner goes to home on the throw." Scorecard does not indicate an RBI for the batter; it does show the runner coming home and scoring, but does not indicate how (e.g. AB, OT, SB, PB). Game stats do not show the RBI for the batter, nor do they show a stolen base for the runner (possible if I had advanced the runner improperly).

I scored this game on an iPad with iOS 3.2.2, and iScore v2.85.101

Thanks!

If you send us your customer ID and which game and play to look at, we can check to see why it is not counting an RBI. You can get your customer ID on the bottom left of the Options screen, and email us at support@iscorecentral.com.

Thank you for sending your data to us... here is what we found (also emailed you back):

If you want this to count as an RBI, just go back to Game Manager, select the game, select Pitch by Pitch, select the play where the batter hit the ball and the runner scored, and click Edit next to where it says the runner Advanced on Throw. Change that to be "Advanced by Batter" and the batter will get credit for the RBI.

When a runner scores on the ground out, in order for the batter to get credit for the RBI, you use "Advanced by Batter" for the way the runner scored.

You also mentioned not getting Stolen Bases... you had entered several players advancing because of Passed Balls. These do not count as Stolen Bases. If you want to give the runner a stolen base, you need to enter it as a Stolen Base, not a Passed Ball. You can use the same steps as above to make those edits if you would like, but runners should not be credited with stolen bases on Passed Balls, so if that is what happened, you actually entered things correctly.
