Swap Sides

Post by mkimbrell » Wed Mar 19, 2014 4:57 am

During softball tournaments, there is literally no time to setup books before the clock starts. The clock is started during the pre-game conference, then about 5 min later we get a lineup and find out who will be home team.

I'd like to be able to start the clock, then swap sides (currently you must swap sides before starting the clock / hitting Play). That is, I'd like to be able to swap sides up until the first pitch (and maybe beyond using the Undo button).

You are saying the official game clock for your games starts prior to the game starting? That seems quite odd. Usually the game clock starts when the umpire says Play Ball.

You can swap home/visitor any time prior to tapping the Play button to being the game. You can Undo back to the point prior to the game starting and use the swap sides at any time, but as you noted, the game clock starts when you press Play.

If you exit out of the scoring screen, you can update the Start Time which would also update the clock for the game. So you could wait to find out who is home/visitor, do the swap, tap Play, exit the scoring screen, and set the start time to however many minutes were wasted during pre-game conference but are being included as part of the game, then go back into the scoring screen if you want your game clock to reflect that time.

The clock starting 'at conference' before play for fastpitch softball is common in tournents that are tight and overcommitted .. and subject to umpires whim is raft start of conference? End of conference? When ump walks up etc.

I found more valuable to write down the time ump says he has for start and not worry about Iscore clock. That after all is what they will ask if ever in dispute. We started at x

I found the tournaments that are early clock starters also are often the most inconsistent on what it means when time up.. Drop dead ? finish batter? finish inning? .. And by the way When does inning start last out or first pitch..

I write down start time.. and don't worry much about it after that
