League Players View

Post by Egghead_#8 » Mon Mar 04, 2013 6:46 am

First off love the new 4.0 update! Great job!

Here's my problem though:
I score for 2 different teams on my iPad, one a travel team and one a HS team. My daughter plays on both so she's in the player database twice, as are a couple more of my travel players due to HS team affiliation. When I create a new league say for my travel team that is about to kick off the new season, the players that are on 2 teams show twice with no way to differentiate the two names due to the fact I keyed them in the same.
Example:

Nancy Drew
Nancy Drew

Can you add something next to their name in the League > Players view to show what team they are on?
Something like:

Nancy Drew (Lady Detectives)
Nancy Drew (School Students)

You should not have these as separate players...they should be one player.

One player can appear on different teams and be assigned to multiple leagues.

You can use the merge feature to consolidate into one player.

Thanks Mark. That's an interesting thought. I've kept the players separate because it's 2 completely different entities, High School vs Travel Ball, to me. Personally I rather have the HS team attached to a different customer id than the travel team but I have just the 1 iPad and am stuck in that regard.

This is might be nitpicking but what about player photos then? Photos tend to be team specific (jersey or hat etc). If you consolidate into 1 player then you share an image. Guess you would have to remember to change the photo of the player based on whether you are in travel ball season or HS ball season?

iScore intends for you to use a single player per person so that you can view lifetime cumulative stats for players. You are right that the player photo is an issue in that case since there is only one, but the High School and Travel Ball seasons should be at different times of the year (usually travel ball would be prohibited during the high school season), so you can change the photo depending on which season is active, or you can have a neutral picture of the person that does not affiliate them with a particular team.
