Fielding vs. throwing errors

Post by mbcowan » Tue Mar 27, 2012 5:41 pm

I know that recoridng fielding vs. throwing errors is "on the prioritization list for future enhancements", and has been for a while, but add me to the list of people requesting this enhancement. I am scoring little league games and it would be a big help to know which kids have trouble throwing accurately vs. fielding cleanly. I know we can use notes, but that requires looking at every individual play. An actual stat would be a huge improvement and very useful information. Also seems like it should be pretty easy to implement - just add a button to the "what happened" screen.

Add me to that list. If the shortstop makes an error on a potential 6-3 put out. Was it because she dropped the ball fielding it? Or did she throw it poorly?

One side question I'd have that occurs. If a player fails to cover the bag to take a throw is it an error on that player? How is that supposed to be scored? Best example is batter lays down a bunt, second baseman doesn't cover second at all or just doesn't get there in time.

FTM has announced this will be in their next release (as usual, they have not announced when that release will be).

Mental errors are not errors. Failing to cover a bag, deciding not to throw to a base, etc.
