Ball deflected

Quite often we have plays where a ball is hit back to the pitcher and is deflected to, for example, the third baseman. I am always puzzled as to where to designate that the ball was hit to, because the third baseman might have made the play near the foul line but the ball was actually hit up the middle.

It would be cool to have a way to show a "deflected" path of the batted ball when prompted. Or is there a way to do that already that I haven't yet discovered? It happens fairly often. When our opponent is at the plate, there's a big difference between "She smashed one right up the middle last time" and "she hit a short grounder to the third baseman last time."

Thanks!

There is no way to designate a deflected path. I just show the ball going in its original position because that is what the batter did to the ball. You can always add a note if you want more details.

You can also use the soft, medium, hard designation. I usually am too rushed to put in that level of detail, but if you are consistent about it, it would provide you with an extra level of detail on the hit charts. Line drive vs grounder is also another designation that is available (as is pop-ups/fly balls.) The key is to consistently apply your descriptions.

just mark what kind of ball was hit like said earlier, then mark the people who handled it. for example if it hits off your pitcher and the third baseman throws them out at first then you would simply mark 1-5-3. in the stats that will take care of it. IMO

I actually do what all three of you suggest. My enhancement suggestion was to make a quick way to denote the deflection so we can see where the 2nd fielder retrieved the ball as opposed to having to take the time to write a note about it. There are also times where a ball might be hit hard enough to be deflected into the outfield. Then, let's say there's an error on the throw in from the outfield. When looking back at those plays, it's odd to see a single up the middle that the left fielder committed an error on.

If it's not a relatively easy thing for FTM to do, I can certainly live with it the way it is. Just thought it would be a neat enhancement.
