make a note or have the name of the player the sub came in for maybe the original player name in red and the current players name next to it.
then if the original player returns to the game you know you he can only come in for then automatically grey out the player that can not come back in the game.

This is a very specific rule that does not apply to all leagues. We make it so iScore can be used under all rules --- we do not enforce league specific rules. Many youth leagues use "free substitution" and allow players to re-enter the game an unlimited number of times.

I have often struggled with this issue as well, not having enough time to pull up the scorecard to see where a "re-entering" player originally was in the line-up, and a coach hurriedly telling me (usually) nothing more than "#17 re-enetering" (for example; rarely do you get the full "#17 re-entering for #6 in th 7-hole" that you need). However, with the latest update allowing the ability to pull the scorecard over the area (in the iPad version) of the play-by-play, this shouldn't be much of an issue anymore, as you can see at a glance the number of the starter who is the only player eligible to re-enter in that spot.
