Email addresses associated with each player

Post by rustybucket » Tue Oct 25, 2011 6:06 am

It would be cool if I could assign a contact to each player on my team. Then, after the game I could email their stats to them. Maybe like a 'mass email stats for this team' or something like that would be cool, where it emails all the stats out to the team based on their individual contact. I only want to email each player and their parents their own stats.

Would just be a bit of a post-game time-saver for the coach/scorekeeper.

Keep up the GREAT work!!! This app is awesome.

If you are using the iOS version of iScore, you can select any contact you like when sending the emails. So you can create a contact on your device called "Team" which has the emails of all your players, and you can have individual contacts for each team member as well, and select them when sending the emails.

We understand what you are asking for with an "email blast" to all players of their own stats, but that kind of emailing can get our email servers on SPAM blockers, so we purposely avoid doing that. We have already wound up on SPAM lists a few times in the past, and when that happens, our email servers being being blocked by all users at providers (for example, everyone at comcast.net was blocked at one time).

We do have Team Websites as an option for people that like to keep their team informed of stats in an easy manner. These sites are automatically updated any time you do an export with all statistics, and can save you a tremendous amount of time by not having to send out emails after each game. Just throwing it out there as an option.

I can fully appreciate the spam issue. No doubt about that.

Just a thought, but what if you allowed the coach to input their own email account, say a gmail account, you could send SMTP emails through their own account rather than funneling through your email server.

I did what you suggested and it will work just fine, but I will just have to click 12 emails to send rather than just 'send each player their stats'. Hey, still LIGHT YEARS above and beyond a paper score sheet, and I have absolutely no complaints.

We have looked into the website edition and will likely do that in the future to supplement our existing website.

It would be cool if the app purchase came with a month of free website service, just so people could test it out prior to purchase.

There are currently some things with the email that are generated on the server, so it is required we use the server to actually send the emails. We originally had the device generating the full email, but there were problems with not being able to create certain things using iPhone libraries, so the solution was server side code... otherwise emailing through user's own accounts would be great.

We have a gallery of team websites where users can see fully functional websites with actual user data:

@rustybucket.. I want to echo the functionality of "team web sites" they are terrific communication mode!! I have become addicted to them each and every season and has my parents. I like the idea of some try before you buy, but hate to say it, but trust me, if you have a need to broadcast updated stats, this is the easiest way. most folks i have seen have been more than satisfied the value is worth the extra $.

@FTM... rustybucket has an intriguing idea to promote team websites.. free two weeks or month, or perhaps a money back guarantee if not satisfied within 30 days.. not sure what is technically feasible.. but knowing how much folks love the websites once they use them.. may be a good marketing idea.. perhaps a contest now and then with reward being a free subscription. just a thought

Of course, for some people two weeks or a month would be all they need the site for..so I can see where it might be a bit of a dilemma for FTM to give one away for that long.
