iPhone to iPad communication & Create new player during game

Post by BrncosFan » Wed Aug 24, 2011 3:26 am

Setting lineups are the most difficult and time consuming part of your software (any software) and it is usually the thing that is the most rushed.

Thus, my questions are:

1.) I use my iPhone for scoring games, but can't seem to transfer my lineups to other people using iPad, why?
2.) Why can't I add a new player to a team after a game has started, especially since managers often don't give the scorekeepers the opponent lineup cards until seconds before the first pitch.
Thanks

You can add players after a game has started by going to misc-starting lineup-add player. I also recommend quick roster for teams that you get lineups last minute. You can edit the names as you go (or between innings) once you get the lineup. Be sure to copy lineup to roster once you are done to save the player names and lineup for future use.

I'm not sure I understand your first question. You can share games between devices using data share but I believe the game must be complete and uploaded in order to do that.

If you play tournament games, a little work ahead of time goes a long way on game days. I have been able to find most rosters online either through tournament websites or team sites and enter the player information ahead of time. On game day I just have to rearrange the names for the lineup. Saves a lot of time. I use quick roster for the rest.

Team mom covered the line up part..

The first question sounds like a known apple hardware Bluetooth issue

Iscore does let you share data with other iscore users through options >data share..
There are however, Two modes.1) get from web database and 2) get by Bluetooth.. Both require you to know customer id...But

For web data share ..You have to be connected to Internet to share by web database (of course). And you can share across platforms. Iphone to ipad, ipad to android etc..I recommend this method as generally easier and faster.

To share by blue tooth, you must have similar devices/iscore app ... Iscore for iPad does not Bluetooth share with iscore for iPhone.. The explanation is a technical implementation by apply of their hardware/software rules... You can Bluetooth between like devices, iPhone/itouch to iPhone/itouch ..iPad1/ipad2 to iPad1/ipad2 ...Android to android..

Thanks to both of you, I never actually tried or thought about what COPY LINEUP to ROSTER actually meant. That will help save time, as I always used to do initial lineup of a new team through TEAM MANAGER. I did know about using QUICK ROSTER, but also didn't like to because of having to redo it all again in next game (not knowing about COPY LINEUP).

Not saying you are wrong...but it's rediculous that exchanging data/lineups via bluetooth between iPhone & iPad doesn't work...heck it's the same iOS and bluetooth is not brand specific.

bluetooth is not brand specific and iOS may be the same OS, BUT apple still has its quirks
(see flash on iPhone/iPad for the one that drives me crazy)..

the developers have explained it that because iscore app on iphone and iscore app on ipad are different apps (ie not universal code), the way apple implemented bluetooth on Iphone and IPAD ..prevents the communication . it does not work ... not an issue of will but technical limitation beyond FTM developers control.

As it has been explained on this forum..
