Player Substitutions I: Lineup & Fielding at Once

I feel as if there must be an easy way to do this -- or at least a thread on it -- but I can't seem to find it. This is probably the one issue for which the paper scorebook is superior to iScore.

When there are bench players coming into the game in defensive positions, I want to have a simple way to insert them into the appropriate positions in the lineup at the same time. Generally the conversation goes like this: "Dave is coming in for Joe and playing right field; Tom is coming in for Matt and playing 2nd base."

It's a simple matter to put Dave in right, and Tom at 2nd, but that won't update the lineup. If I make the offensive substitutions first, then I have to remember where the kids are going in the field.

I guess what I'm asking for is a UI gesture that would typically be used at the start of a half-inning that would mirror what we see on paper. Substitute the players into the lineup, and -- particularly if the substituting team is about to take the field -- allow me to specify the fielding position the player will be taking. This is sort of a hybrid of the current lineup substitution UI and the starting lineup UI.

You can make both substitutions at the same time by toggling the Offense | Defense selector at the top of the sub screen.

Our early versions did full offensive and defensive substitutions whenever a replacement was made, but this cause a lot of confusion... MUCH more than we have reported with our current way of doing things. The issue is mostly with little league where you are rearranging fielding positions nearly every inning.

We will likely be adding a user setting where you will be able to say whether you want your subs to be both offensive + defensive, or keeping it the way we have it now.
